Canon 850 IS Grey 'Smudge' on Photos

I have a Canon 850 IS that is less than one-year old. Recently all photos have a small circular grey 'smudge' in the upper middle of the photo. When printed on 8.5 x 11 inch format this smudge is approximately 1/2 inch in diameter. Is there any way to fix this short of purchasing a new camera?

I have a Canon SD850 IS, about 18-mos old. A circular grey 'smudge' now appears on the rear photo display screen, and becomes darker and smaller as I zoom the optical lens from 1x to 4x. The smudge appears on the finished pictures, as well, being most obvious in those pictures where I used the zoom. Canon Technical Reps quoted about $150, on average, to repair, although the range was $95 to $200, depending on individual circumstances. I tried to eliminate the smudge by using compressed air to blow it off. No luck. Likewise, I whirled the camera in a leather pouch, to see if I could dislodge the spec, but again, no luck.
    Suggestions, anyone?

Sounds like your ccd/sensor may have gotten dirty. This is not common in point and shoot cameras, but can be fixed. You may send it to the manufacturer or for a faster turn around, take it to an Authorized Service Center. I know of one in Florida 305-653-7355

Smudge showing up in view finder and on photo PowerShot SX210

Is there a visible smudge on the front element of the lens? If so, you can use a LensPen or cleaning cloth from the photo department of your favorite store.

There is the possibility that there is fungus growing inside the lens elements of the camera. Humidity can allow this to happen over time with camera lenses as well.

If you have fungus inside the lens, you may need to check with a repair shop... buying a new camera may be in your future.

My canon SD 700 photos are blurred on one side of photo? No matter what I do my photos are blurred. Thier does not seem to be any problems with the camera's operation, just blurred photos?

Sounds like a stupid question, but, if the camera is operating correctly in all other ways, have you checked to make sure that you didn't smudge the lens at some point?

The odds are you have a broken spring in the anti-shake assembly which has allowed the lens unit to shift to one side. The smudge you are seeing is the edge of the lens housing and will have a slight rounded shape. As you zoom in, you are extending the lens past this area so it no longer shows.

Black smudges on copies

Hi, try to pull out complete process unit(cartridge) with toner box .You have cleaner(blue or green color) move this cleaner from right to left side 4 or 5 times.Note that cleaner MUST be in home position-right side when you finish.Check print.
If problem still persists, you must do following:take away small grey plastic cap on left side of cartridge, then push complete charge corona(part with cleaner on top of it) to left side just enough to lift right side of corona from cartridge.Pull out that corona and you can see drum and developer roller. Turn the gear on drum, and look for smudges on black developer roller.Try to clean smudges with brush or with dry cloth.Toner will again attract to that area, but regular.
