What happened to cause this? Software Upgrade? Operating System Upgrade?  If you have Restore Disk or a Mac OS 10.4 or later disc, insert that and restart holding down the C key.  It should start up and may give you the options to install... Instead go to the top menu (or press escape if you don't see the menu) then find the Repair Uitility and run that... Or you can choose one of the appropriate re-install options.  Hope this helps.

Mine does this occasionally all you have to do is hold down the power button about 10 seconds and then try again. The second time it works fine.

Apple macbook air won't turn on

Does the Apple logo or the Pinwheel show on the screen?

There is a problem with you OSX installation. Please boot from the Recovery partition (hold Cmd+R during the startup chime), and use Startup Disk to choose the correct hard drive to boot from.
You can also restore from a backup, and not lose your data here as well.

It turns off randomly, then take a few goes to get back on

I think the connection in Macbook is damaged, it's better to take it back to Apple and check, and if there is warranty is good too.

How do you turn off DOS mode on a 13" MacBook Pro?

Is this a trick question? There is no "DOS mode" on a MacBook Pro.
Do you have WIndows installed as part of Boot Camp, and your machine is booting into Windows? To boot back into the Mac, either use the Boot Camp control panel in Windows, or hold down the Option key after you hear the startup chime and select the OS X partition to boot from.

Sometimes my mac air will not boot up when turned on. The screen simply stays black. Eventually it does boot up. What causes this and should I take it in?

Does it always eventually boot up? If so, I don't think it's a serious problem. Your OS may need to be restored. Do you still have your original install CD? There are detailed instructions on how to do the restore online. If the problem get's worse and it doesn't turn on even after restore, you may have a logic board issue, Here is an Macbook Repair Guide that shows how to open a Macbook. If you want somebody else to do it for you go to Macbook Repair.

My Macbook shut down during reserve battery power and now won't reboot...it is stuck at the gray screen with the apple and the twirling icon.

You can turn off the machine by pressing and holding the Power button until the display switches off.
Then, try resetting your 'PRAM' using the following instructions;
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1379
I've used every version of OS X from 10.0 through to 10.5.6 and sometimes you get this problem after an incremental upgrade. It usually just goes away after a couple of reboots.
Please let me know how you go.
Thanks,
Sean
