I have a Ms PacMan Cocktail table that is set to Upright/1 Joystick mode. I put into the Test Menu and changed it to cocktail mode, but now I am trying to exit the Test Menu. I am on the screen in the test menu labelled I/O Test. I am assuming to get past this screen, you have to press all the buttons on the machine and the label on the screen will turn from blue to red for each button when you press them, but I can not find the buttons "P1 S3", "P2 S3", and "SERVICE". Can somebody please tell me where these buttons are located?

I have a eralier 80's upright Bally's Pac Man arcade machine that I got off a freind of mine. They said that they palyed it all the time up to about a year ago. I got it home set it up and pluged it in... and nothing happens. I've hit the start buttom on the inside and the new game button but still nothing... Is there something else that I may need to check?

1.Check the dip switches for cocktail set up/ no upright.
2.does the screen flip to the player 2? if yes
3.make sure you have good dc ground in player 2 joystick.
4.if no picture flip for player 2, go to solution 1.

Look up your local coin op amusements vendors that provide equipment to local bars etc, They may be helpfull as they deal in these repairs everyday.

if you're good at soldering, you can replace a few things on the monitor's main board. puffy capacitors (look like cans) especially. but before you do so, you'll need to discharge the crt tube by running the stored charge (up to 20,000 volts dc) straight to a ground source. it's a big deal and it's dangerous if done incorrectly, so you might want to leave it to the professionals. now might be a good time to change to a lcd monitor.

Open the front coin door and look for a slide service switch, It is set the wrong way in service mode.

there are buttons inside the coin door for programming. one button will bring you to programming mode on the screen and use the other(s) for selections. you can put it on free mode.

Replace 74LS257 @ U2 on VRam addresser board, or replace the whole addresser board. Usually $20 on ebay.

Use the joystick controller's right and left to select options, and then use either one of the buttons to make your selection. The button with 1 human stick figure next to it is the Player 1 button, and the one with two stick figures is the Player 2 button. Unless the defaults were changed on that machine, 1 quarter is required for 1 player and 2 quarters are required for two players. I haven't used one of these machines since the original from 1982 to 1986. I can't believe it, but Namco actually has put a PDF of the service manual for this unit on their website:
