Question about Acer Aspire 1406LC Notebook

Acer Aspire 1406 no sound issue

The laptop has lost the sound. But the soundcard and all the sounds capabilities are working fine. I think that is a speakers´ problem. First, the sound from left speaker was gone. And last night, the right speaker stop working at all. Conclusion: I got no sound from the laptop. Any suggestion...?

Yes, I tried all of that. The driver is installed properly and the control panel and device manager are working fine, telling me that the soundcard and its properties are fully available...

  • bimaugly Apr 20, 2009

Yes, is de default device in there.
The thing is that, suddenly, a bad sound came out from the speakers. I mean that the sound quality was going like overloaded and dirty. Then, the left speaker died... I have been a medium period working only with the right one. But last night, it died too. I have to mention that the volumes are at the right level, I can slide them conveniently when I wish to do that. Anyway, no sound comes out from the speakers...

I think that it has something to do with the integrated amplifier of the soundcard´s circuit... I am afraid of...

I tried by earphones socket and... Yep, it works with external speakers. So...

  • bimaugly Apr 20, 2009

I agree with you, Steve. The fact is that nearly NEVER that socket was used, so it is very strange that it could be worn... Of course, it can be not so good from factory. But the laptop have never been for service, so it has not been opened since it was sold. No bad technician messin´ on it... I will play a little with the connector, taking care, cos maybe the socket is somehow dirty or else, and it is cutting the audio signal in any way... I will let you know. Thanks for your help!

After testing and checking the earphone jack, no sound yet.
Must be something to do with the internal sound amplifier. I don´t think much about the internal speakers.
Bad thing, I am afraid of.
I think that I will put a couple of mini-speakers when I want to get sound on my lappy.
Cos it is not worth enough to repair the motherboard of it.

Is the audio device listed as the default device in the sounds and audio properties?

Have you tried going to the sound audio properties in the control panel or the device manager to resolve the problem?

So sometimes laptops play up when the headphone socket gets a bit worn. If you wiggle a headphone jack in the socket (put it in at different angles, and rub around) sometimes the sound will come back.

There are two prongs that "detect" the headphones, and cut the speakers... and if they don't "un-contact" when the headphones are removed, the speakers stay off.

You'd need someone to solder a new headphone socket on the mainboard to properly fix it, but if you wiggle and get the speakers back, they should stay back until you use the headphone socket again.

Buzzing sound in Acer Aspire 5535

I've come across this before and it turned out to be the soundcard driver. See if there's an updated driver on Acer's website.

Strange buzzing can also be caused by a stuck or damaged key. Does pressing ESC help at all?

Unlikely to be the hard drive. They crunch and grind but don't buzz, unless they're completely knackered, when they can give you a three-tone buzz sound and won't spin up at all.

Hope that helps,
Matt

If it came with a disk, reinstall the sound drivers. If you have no disk you might have to install a new soundcard. I bought a external USB soundcard and it fixed my prob. Hope this helps.

Soundcard problem acer aspire 5735

Try reinstalling sound driver. if still the same issue try external speaker to check if they have same issue. if external speakers work fine that mean its not driver issue and problem with your notebook speakers replace them.

Good Luck

Yes in a laptop Sound Card is comes as a integrated part of System. Before doing anything else it is highly recommended that you must download the Sound Driver from the Acer website and then install it on your Laptop. Be careful download the only sound Driver that related to your laptop model by using your laptop serial no.

Sound Driver Is Not Supporting

Dear Abdul Raheem

These Server Operating systems have compatibility issues with some hardware. I would do the following:

Get updates from the 2003 Server site; it checks for drivers also and updates them.
Write Acer Tech Support, tell them you want updated drivers for XXXXX soundcard.

Put your CD with sound drivers in drive. Go to hardware install in C-Panel and ask it to search for updated drivers on the CD. Or Right Click My Computer> Properties> hardware and select the yellowed gizmos. One of them will be your sound. Right click and select UPDATE DRIVER with the CD already on drive. Follow instructions. If you don;t have such a CD for your soundcard, find the drivers from Acer tech Support.
