Open the Scan Validation Tool. Select TWAIN / KODAK i2000 Scanner. Click the setup button (top left icon). Highlight Default. Towards the bottom left of this window, you should see a drop down box under "Input Document Is:", click the drop down box and ensure "Two Sided" is selected. If you are using some other third party software to scan and still having issues with scanning two-sided - you are on your own!

Scanning one side Only

Flatbed scanners scan one side only.
To scan the other side you would have to flip the page.
Dual side simultaneous scanners are rather rear.

How to scan picture to upload on computer

First, ensure you are connecting the scanner to your computer. I'm assuming USB connection, and that you're using an operating system supported by this device.

Next, install the drivers and software for this device. Those should have come with an installation disc, but if you don't have that disc, you can get them from the PIXMA MP830 support site, here:
http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=123&modelid=12804

To scan a single document, place the document:
1. Place the document face down on the platen glass.
2. Open the MP Navigator 2.2 software.
3. Click Scan Photo/Document.
4. Click Document Type drop-down arrow and select the type of document to be scanned. Chose from the following types.
  • Color Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of color documents.
  • Color Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of color documents.
  • B/W Document(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of monochrome documents.
  • B/W Document(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of monochrome documents.
  • Text(Simplex): Select this to scan one side of text documents.
  • Text(Duplex): Select this to scan both sides of text documents.
5. Click 'Specify' and set the preferences as required. Click here for detailed information

6. After making the setting changes, click 'Scan'

7. Click 'Save to PC' or 'Save as PDF file'. Save to PC is displayed when an image is captured with Scan Photo/Document or Batch Scanning

The directions for Batch Scanning, or using the ADF to scan, are shown below.
  1. Place the document(s) in the Automatic Document Feeder (ADF).
    1. To scan using the ADF, remove any documents from the platen glass.
    2. Open the document tray.

    3. Insert the documents face-up in the ADF and then adjust the document guides.

  2. On the Windows desktop, double-click 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    1. Alternatively, on the Windows taskbar, click 'Start', point to '(All) Programs', 'Canon', then 'MP Navigator 2.2'.
    2. Then click 'MP Navigator 2.2'. MP Navigator opens.

  3. Click 'Batch Scanning'.

Duplex copying on HP Photosmart C8280 All-in-One Can't see how to do two-sided copy apart from scanning both sides and printing two-sided! Old HP printer could do 1-1 1-2 2-1 2-2 etc.

Open HP Solution Center, click on Settings, click on Scan Preferences, select "Scan both sides of original when using duplex feeder."

or
Open Solution Center, click on Scan Document, and you should have a check box towards the bottom of the window which would say 'scan both sides of the original document'. check that box and start scanning.

Error Message - Optical Backslide Error

Hi,

The back side means it will be E3 error, then you have to clean the back side optical unit like Glass part, lamp part, ccd unt. dont use Alcohol (IP) for cleaning CCD unit. It will be a risky one.

Another one since it is giving the back side error you can scan by scanning only the front side. i think you may be aware of the front side scanning .

Canon DR-2050C - Duplex scanning

Try and reinstall the driver software. IF you had scanned only one page and also had chosen multipage option, the second side will not be visible, unless you use a proper software that can display 2nd side.

Scanning a combination of one-sided and two-sided documents

Use the "Separate Scan" button on the panel. By pushing this you are telling the scanner that you have separate scans to scan as one document. Once all files are scanned, push the separate scan button again to indicate you are finished scanning.
