HELP! JVC-BRS822U ejectomatic

Hi, Bought a used BR822U for $37 and it powers up, display lights, accepts tape but after a moment ejects it with "32" displayed. Hopefully not a terminal error, but I may have gotten what I paid for. The reason I purchased it is to give me a good analog signal (hopefully better quality than a nicely working Panasonic 1000B I got for $5) for capture through a Canopus 300 . Any suggestions? I don't have the manual and a peek under the lid gave me a bit of a scare. Any help appreciated. Paul

    Hi,

A local repair shop says it is the drive belt, some adjustments and lubrication. Says it is worth fixing. For $100 to $150, I suppose it is.

I have a similar problem on a SONY SLV-700HF. It may be a drive belt problem with the take-up spool not gathering the tape. I'll be interested in any other suggestions before I pay out the $30 or so for a set of new belts.

Replacing the drive belt worked for my SONY. Sony part # 3-946-999-01 available from Sony Direct Accessories & Parts Center web site -http://www.sony.com/accessories. Price 10.31 plus tax and shipping.

With hindsight, probably would have been a good idea to change the other belts too, Part #s 3-946-923-01 and 3-946-962-01

I have 5 of these machines (and have repaired them all), and almost all of them need new loading belts, plus pull the mechanism for cleaning and lubrication. It's a fairly major operation, but I have it down to about an hour because I've done it so many times. In many cases, you can simply turn the pulleys by hand while the machine is trying to cycle, and plow past the gummed-up lubricant which will then restore operation after several manual "persuasions". Then, using it often will keep things healthy. This isn;t the right way to do it, but it should work.

Remove battery
Press and HOLD Eject as you place battery back on (so its the first command it recognizes with power) and try to eject. If it does not come out, camera will need service to remove tape or fix gears

Hi, I have a JVC HR-J658 VCR that doesn't eject tapes.

You mean a tape is stuck inside? Disconnect power and open up the cover. If the tape is stuck around the posts, free it and by manually turning the loading motor you can slowly get the mechanism to eject the tape.

Flashing auto display - won't power up

The infra red light in the middle of the mechanical deck, that powers the left and right photo sensors is not ok.It looks like a small lamp( you cant see it when it works-Infra red mind it).The video cassette has a large round opening in the bottom towords the front, and accomodates this lamp.please check it out.
