I BOUGHT A TOM TOM GPS IN FEBRUARY IN NZ, WHEN I GOT HOME TO AUSTRALIA I WENT TO DOWN LOAD AUSSIE MAPS AND HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE DO IT . HAVE RUNG TOMTOM AND THE GUY TRIED A FEW TIME , TOLD ME HE WOULD MAKE INQUIRIES AND GET BACK TO ME . WELL I HAVE NOT HEARD A PEEP. HE TOLD ME IT WAS NOT THE GPS IT WAS MY CREDIT CARD SO I TRIED MY FRIENDS ONE DIFFERENT COMPANY STILL WILL NOT WORK . I HAVE A $599 GPS I HAVE NOT BEEN ABLE TO USE AND I AM GETTING CRANKY. PLEASE HELP ME . IT ATOM TOM XL SERISE 30 1GB. THE BANK TELLS ME THERE IS NO REASON WHY MY CARD WILL NOT WORK.HOPE TO HEAR FROM YOU ASAP WITH AN ANSWER. PAM COOPER

What is the error message that you are getting then you try to download the map?
Do you get any error during the transaction or downloading the map?

Important:
Important message for owners of TomTom One XL HD Traffic

  • New maps are temporarily unavailable for your device and will not appear in the map shop. Please don't select a device other than your own in an attempt to buy a map, as it will not be downloadable via TomTom HOME.
When downloading a new map:
  • Accept the latest version of TomTom HOME and update the application on your device when prompted. If you do not accept the software update it is likely that your device will not recognise the new map.
  • If you order a map download, a broadband internet connection is required.
Map information
  • All maps are compatible exclusively with TomTom devices, or devices running TomTom applications.
  • Depending on the map you purchase, additional memory (e.g. an empty SD card) may be needed.
  • Please note that all maps for Navigator 6 are the latest versions available, released in April 2007. They are only compatible with Navigator 6. No further versions of these maps will be released by TomTom
Also Note : IMPORTANT: Some versions of the TomTom XL (30 Series) have limited internal memory. Before purchasing a map that may be too big, please connect your device to TomTom HOME to check how much memory you have available.

Wanting to buy gps was thinking of the 1350 ? series...do they have free amp upgrades for NZ and Australia can you have loaded multiple countires at once...
The basic 1350 model doesn't have free map updates but the 1350LMT model does. LMT stands for lifetime map and traffic updates but of course you're pay extra for the LMT models. Note lifetime means the lifetime of the satnav not your life. It comes with maps of Australia and NZ when bought in one of these countries. If you want more than these maps you'll need to store them on a memory card. You'll have to download them to your computer and then install them to a memory card. You'll find details of how to do this at http://www.fixya.com/support/r5628920-update_garmin_satnav_maps which tells you how to update your maps including how to set up a map on a memory card. I have just purchased a Garmin 1390 GPS with both NZ & Australian mapping, I am going to Oz today and donot know how to access the Australian maps, it just starts with NZ ones.
Press TOOLS (the spanner symbol)
Press SETTINGS (the spanner symbol) or LOCALE on some models
Press MAPS

There will be a tick beside whatever maps are selected. If the Australian map is not selected press the map name and it will be selected.

When you go to Australia the satellites should automatically pick up your location and load the correct map. If not or if you want to save an Australian location in favoutites before you go;
Press WHERE TO
When the screen comes up to enter the address you'll see NZ as the country selected
At the bottom of the screen you'll see an item CHANGE COUNTRY
Press this and you can select Australia
This should bring up the map of Australia and you can enter addresses there.

Lost map
you tom tom should have come with a serial number and an activation code.

Contact TomTom directly and you should be able to download the map through TomTom home...

Also the TomTom home app (if ever synced & registered will have an backup of ownership to the device))

I need help on changing to the us My tom tom is on a different country
You will need to Purchase and load required US MAP(s) via 'TOM TOM HOME'.
When the new MAPs are registred to your device, you can then use the 'Change preference' -> manage Maps -> Switch Map -> then select the appropriate 'registred' US MAP.

Please note: always backup your GPS via 'Tom Tom Home' backup utilities first!
If you have limited storage, you may need to delete your existing map(s), that were previously back-up, before loading the US Maps

Just a general question
What maps it comes with depends on where you buy it. I have an Australian version which includes maps for all of Australia and works fine. Tom Tom update the maps periodically but an update is about A$150. It will also work with any other Tom Tom maps you have.
