Question about Canon Cameras

1 Answer

My camera is using up batteries very quickly

I have a Canon PowerShot S1 IS Digital camera and it is using up batteries in a matter of minutes. What's wrong with it?

Tried that, it did't help at all. Something is definitely wrong with the camera. I have had it for 4 years and it just started doing this. I read somewhere that it might be a flash capacitor. That I may still be able to use the camera if I turn off the flash, but I am about to take a trip and I would like to use this camera indoors. If I can't figure it out, I will have to purchase a new camera. Thanks.

I will not buy another sure shot camera again. My batteries give out way to soon. I had my son get married and I put new batteris in it. Gave out on me. So I put new batteries again in it and after ten more pics. the batteries died on me again... Thanks so much for this camera.

Are you using the normal pencil batteries? Please change to rechrgable nickel cadmium batteries. This will be more lasting.

My canon power S1 IS always ask me recharge the battery even if I put in new one. Any idea what could be the problem

Repairing camera is a specialty. so unless you have this skill you'll have to let someone else fix it. i sent my camera to be fixed to: www.camerarepair.com they were reasonably priced and have a 6 month warranty. they're pretty quick also.

This sounds like it might be a defective CCD imager. If so, Canon should fix this for you for free, including free shipping both ways. This is regardless of your camera's warranty status. Please check the following two links for more info:

Going through batteries abnormally quickly

Hi. I bought a used A70 that had that problem. I disassembled the outer body panels and found that a base panel assembly screw was too long, and was touching the LCD's ground cable, at the cable's tip. I changed the screw for a shorter one and it was settled. It never happened again.
