Question about HP PSC 1350v All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

I've had this machine for few years with few problems until just recently. The problem is that the ''check print cartridge'' comes on repeatedly. When I press ON/Resume it either shuts down or the check print catridge light comes on. I have checked the print catridges i.e. took them out and put them back. I didn't see anything unusual but I don't know what I am suppose to check. Help!

    Richard,

I did all of this mutiple times to no avail. The On/Resume light never became steady i.e. continued to blink.

I appreciate your suggestion. Do you have any other suggestion?

    Hi Richard,

Thanks for your persistence. I am a Senior citizen who is tech challenged.

The blinking problem maybe solved as a couple of sheets came out w/o print. I clicked on "printer" in the control panel and it shows "error-off line". I hate to ask a stupid question but how did it get off line and how do I get it back on line? If you're still up to it perhaps you can get me back online and then I'll know if the blinking propblem is really solved.

    Regards,

    John

Hi,
Unplug the power cord from the unit.

Reconnect the power cord into the unit.

When the lights begin to flash, press and hold the On/Resume and Paper Size buttons.

When only the On/Resume light is flashing, release the buttons.

When the On/Resume light is steady, the reset is complete.

Try the print job again to see if this step resolved the issue.
Hope this helps
Regards
Richard.

    Hi John.

    If still having problems......

    Open the cartridge access door

Remove the cartridge on the right.

    Close the cartridge access door.

If the On/Resume light starts blinking,

(the cartridge on the left) is the problem cartridge.

open the access door, remove the right cartridge.

Follow the same procedure, we should have now isolated the problem cartridge, inspect it check it looks good,

Try again with it, if not replace it, it is a faulty one.

Make sure all doors are closed, or errors will occur.

Check in back and front for and obsticles, particles, or paper.

    Double check evrything looks good.

We should know where the problem is now.

    Hope this helps

    Regards

    Richard.

I have not my Epson Stylus Photo for quite some time. Now I want to use it again, I 've put in some new cartridges. The print shows repeating (green) lines. Any idea what could be the problem ?

To help complete the pattern, feed copy papers to the printer and do atleast 40 blank photocopies and afterwards clean the head and check the nozzle.if it has not improved, repeat the same procedure until the pattern completes.mine also had the same problem but after doing that, it was solved for good.
NB: Command copies without putting any printed paper to save ink.

Cartridge Error on printer

If your machine is displaying the message "cartridge error" then it is a problem with the cartridge. if you recently purchased them, you shouldn't have a problem returning them, especially if they are generic.

I've seen it often on Xerox's and HP's because they have chips on their cartridges that the machine has to read in order for it to work. sometimes the manufactured cartridges don't get a proper flash of those chips.

When fax comes through paper is blank. I've tried 2 different cartridges

Replace the print cartridge
When you notice that the print becomes light or ink low or when install new ink
cartridge appears in the display, replace the print cartridge. The part number for
replacement cartridges is HP 701.
1. Take out a cartridge from its packaging and carefully remove the tape covering the
printhead.
Hold the cartridge by the colored top or black areas only. Do not touch the copper
area.
2. Press the Access Cartridge button on the control panel.
The cartridge carrier moves to the install position.

3. Open the control panel and cartridge compartment cover (it will click and remain
open).
4. Push the cartridge down and remove it.
5. To load the cartridge insert the cartridge as shown below. When the cartridge is
pushed to the back of the cartridge carrier, push the top of the cartridge until it clicks
into place.
If the cartridge moves loosely in the carrier, it has not clicked into place. Repeat this
step.

6. Close the cartridge compartment cover and control panel.
7. Press Start/Enter.
8. Press 1 for new cartridge, or 2 for the old one.
• When you put in a new cartridge, you must choose 1:New
• When you put in a used cartridge, choose 2:Used. This helps you to check the
correct amount of ink you have left.
TIP: If you mix up several used cartridges, it is not possible to check the correct amount
of remaining ink. Once you have put in a new cartridge, use it until it is completely
exhausted.

My Lc61 will not print black--on the test page, the colors are fine. I've replaced the ink cartridge and it says it's full but won't print

Most likely this is a print head issue. The print head is what the cartridges sit in inside of the printer. To attempt to resolve it, do the following:

(1) Open the printer
(2) Remove the ink cartridges from the print head.
(3) Use cotton swabs dipped in hot water to thoroughly clean the print head and each ink cartridge.
(4) Repeat this until there is no ink residue coming off on the cotton swab.
(5) Once finished, allow to dry and replace the cartridges
(6) Try to print something now

If that does not work then you have one of two possibilities:
(1) One of the ink cartridges is defective and causing the error
(2) If it's definitely not that, then the print head will need to be replaced.

5740 acts like it's printing, but no ink on paper

Since it's trying to print, the printer probably just needs cartridges. The ink can dry in the nozzles with age and disuse and clog them.

Before you splurge on new cartridges, try getting them going. (This assumes there is some ink left in them.) Take the cartridges out of the printer, wet a layer of paper towels about 1/8 inch thick, and whack the nozzles against the wet surface a few times. Check every few whacks to see if you're getting any ink flow. Repeat until you see some ink on the towels and on the nozzles, or until you decide it's futile. Often this dislodges the clogged ink and opens the nozzles, and buys some extra printing time. But you're probably going to want new ones soon anyway.

3 Gently hold the cloth against the nozzles for about three seconds, and then wipe in the direction shown.
4 Using another clean section of the cloth, gently hold the cloth against the contacts for about three seconds, and
then wipe in the direction shown.
5 With another clean section of the cloth, repeat step 3 and step 4.
6 Let the nozzles and contacts dry completely.
7 Reinsert the print cartridges.
8 Print the document again.
9 If the print quality does not improve, clean the print nozzles. For more information, see “Cleaning the print
cartridge nozzles” on page 92.
10 Repeat step 9 up to two more times.
11 If print quality is still not satisfactory, replace the print cartridges.
If you are still getting the incorrect cartridge message it would be best to return the cartridge and exchange it for a new one.
Thanks
