This unit does not have a "Set" button. It has a small round preset tuning button, but pressing it either before or after choosing a station does nothing.

  • cfarb54 Apr 30, 2009

Does anyone actually own one of these?

  • cfarb54 Apr 30, 2009

The unit does not have a recall button and pressing power and the band button at the same time accomplishes nothing.

  • cfarb54 May 01, 2009

I think you are mistaking this unit for a car stereo, it does not have 6 buttons. It is a shelf system.

  • cfarb54 May 01, 2009

    Sorry that did not work.

  • cfarb54 May 02, 2009

This is a valid JVC part number. It is sometimes followed by a bk for black or wh for white, but it is the correct part number.

  • cfarb54 May 03, 2009

I followed those instructions to the letter and it accomplished nothing,

  • cfarb54 May 03, 2009

I do not mean to be rude, but I have already stated in an earlier post that this is a shelf system not a car stereo, duh.

  • cfarb54 May 04, 2009

There is a small round preset button on it.

  • cfarb54 May 10, 2009

This did not work and I do not mean to be rude, but do you really think that I would spend and time and money on this website without trying the most simplistic, obvious in your face solution?

  • cfarb54 May 11, 2009

This is a shelf system not a car stereo

It is possible to change the MW tuning interval. You can do this by pressing the POWER button while pressing the BAND button during power is on. To reset the interval, repeat this procedure.

    NOTE

    - When the MW tuning interval is changed, all preset stations are cleared. The preset stations have to be set.

Most stereos are the same...find the radio station you want to keep and then hold the button down (most stereos have six buttons that are numbered 1-6) hold it down untill you here it beep or see the display flash and then it will stop flashing...repeat this step and fill up all six preset buttons

The simplest solution seems to be to:
Prerequisite: unit remote control
1) turn unit on
2) turn unit to tuner
3) make sure it can receive some signal
4) press auto preset on remote control

This appears to scan a band and when it tunes into a station it presets it to a number.

This works (but obviously might upset people - like me - who would like Radio 1 set to 1, 2 to 2 etc) but hey ho it worked

Hi,
To change the channel spacing from 0.2 to 0.1; hold the FM button for approximately 2 seconds, then while still holding the FM button, press and hold the #5 button. The screen will flash with either US for 0.2 spacing or 01. for EU (Europe) spacing. Press any other button to exit.

Find the station, click the preset, hold down for 5 seconds, release. If none of this works including the instuctions you were given then there is a communication breakdown and you can get a manual off of the internet or from the manufacturer..

To preset the JVC UX-C30, please follow the steps below:

1. Make sure that the JVC is turned on.
2. Hold down the small preset button for 10 seconds.
3. While still holding down the preset button, unplug the power cable from the wall outlet, but do not release the preset button.
4. After another 10 seconds, plug the power cable to the wall outlet and give another 10 seconds before releasing the preset button.

NOTE: Do not release the preset button while you are performing the preset.

Have a great day!

Hi,
UX-C30 seems incomplete or incorrect model number as it is no where in JVC sites.
I found TH-C30 and UX-G30 as valid model numbers. Please reconfirm model number of your JVC unit to look into its manual for how too set preset of radio solution.

Hit "add a comment" button to reply.
Thanks.

    ========================================================================

I checked all over JVC support sites to get its instruction manual and every time it says invalid model.
Radio preset setting procedure would be simple but I need instruction manual to guide you properly.
Click JVC Support UK and check any instruction manual related to UX-C30
    Thanks.

This must be an older system since I can't find a manual. Have you tried holding down the buttons that the stations get set on when you are on the station you want. That generally works if there is no set button. Let me know if it doesn't, I'll see what I can dig up otherwise.

The manual says "You can also overwrite preset station numbers by pressing RECALL to select the number and then press the desired number to confirm selection."

For a total reset....
It is possible to change the MW tuning interval. You can do this by pressing the POWER button while pressing the BAND button during power-up. To reset the interval, repeat this procedure.

NOTE

- When the MW tuning interval is changed, all preset stations are cleared. The preset stations have to be set.

The easiest way is to disconnect the Keep Alive Power, this will erase all setting and return the system to out of box settings, the keep alive is most likely the cigar lighter fuse, u can also just disconnect the battery fro 5 minutes.

How to tune in radio stations on a mini system without the remote

Hi, with just the controls on the unit itself you cannot set the radio station presets. They are set by holding down one of the numbered keys on the remote while in radio mode. The letter P with a flashing number will show up on the display to indicate you are setting that preset, radio will stop flashing and station will be locked into memory.

To set individual presets: 1. tune to the station you want as a preset 2. hold down the number (ie "1") on the remote until the number blinks on the system 3. repeat for all other stations
press the number on the remote to tune to your preset
this is very similar to setting the presets on my car radio

tune into the station you want as normal. Then on the remote, press & hold the number key for the preset number you want. This will flash in the display to show you it's set. You can preset 30 FM & 15 AM stations.

1 Answer

Jvc car cd/radio

The radio was improperly installed; there are two 12V leads, one services the radio when on, the other, only the circuitry for the clock and presets.
Eventually, this shouldn't be needed if the manufacturers ever think about using a little bit of flash memory for the presets and a coin cell for the clock.

You didn't give any model number so researching the manual is impossible.
If you can find the model number, look for a user's (or installation) guide on line to find the wiring info.
