Question about Kenmore Elite 45986 Front Load Washer
Remove the lower kick panel -- remove three 1/4 inch hex head screws and the panel will come off in your hand. Now, reach your hand up between the upper front panel and the washer drum, keep it on the latch side of the machine. There's a disk a little larger than a dime hanging from a little cable. You can't see it but you'll be able to feel it. Grab the disk (however you can) and pull it downward. You should hear the lock click when the door unlocks.

Have you tried pushing the door lock/unlock button? I think it may be called the "rinse & spin", and under that it says door lock/unlock.
