Question about Aiwa NSX-DS55 CD Shelf System

1 Answer

Power Problem? My DS55 red standby light blinks at me and won't turn on.

What I have noticed is that my system has PMS or something. Sometimes I can walk up to it and push Aux or CD and it will turn right on play great play loud and not shut off. Other times it does that red light blink thing everytime you push on, or cd, aux, tape, ect... it just plain refuses to give in. I've tried unplugging it and have also tried pulling all the speaker jacks. Neither of those has helped. What I think may be happening is a while back the output for the left rear speaker stopped working. I wonder if that has just gotten worse and is now sending a shorted signal to the amp when it trys to turn on. Or could be a power problem. Any idea where to find shematics for this? Or I might just take it to the local repair place... Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, MB

Is this a component fix or a board fix? Just give me a guess I won't take it as gospel till I get to the service center but I would like to be able to know I'm not getting bent on parts.

I agree with your diagnosis. If one channel quit and the unit now ocassionally won't output at all then the amp is going into protect. Have it serviced.

Depends. Could be as simple as the main I.C. pack (Usually $15-50), but it could be elsewhere in the circuit and be more troublesome to figure out.

Wont turn on red blinking light

How many times this standby/power light blinks at one time switch ON? Count it carefully. These blinks are fault indication, and known as blinking codes. From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON; you can get an idea about the faulty circuit stage inside the TV. This will make repair easy. For more information, check the link If the blinks continues, and non-stop, the fault should be with its main system control IC, and with the memory IC.

Power light blinking on nv53a gateway

Your Gateway laptop comes with a series of LED lights that alert you to the state of your computer. You'll notice there are blue, purple and red lights that either blink or display solidly. Each light, blinking or solid, has a different meaning. The blue blinking light on your laptop indicates that it is in Standby mode. Your laptop goes into Standby when you close its lid without shutting down the computer. To turn this light off, you'll need to take the computer out of Standby mode, and if you want to ensure that the blinking blue light does not return, shut down the computer after each use.

Open the lid of your Gateway laptop and press the power button. Once Windows loads, enter your password if required. The blue light will no longer be blinking because the computer is no longer in Standby mode. Shut the laptop off when you finish using it rather than simply closing the lid to stop the blue light from blinking again. Click "Start" from your Windows desktop and click "Shut down." Change your computer's power settings to keep if from going into Standby mode when you close the lid if you'd rather not shut down your computer every time you use it. Click "Start" and click "Control Panel." Click "System and Security" and then click "Power Options." Click "Choose what closing the lid does" from the list of options on the left side of the window. Select "Hibernate" from the drop-down lists under "On Battery" and "Plugged In." Click "Save Changes." Your laptop will now bypass Standby mode when you close the lid and it will enter Hibernate mode instead. Hope it helps.

My Sony wega tv won't turn on goes into standby red light blinks 10 times then shuts off?

Look at the owner manual as the 10 blinks is a error code or Google the model number to locate that information--Sony error codes are general and often misleading.

I would if looking at the set inspect the lamp first.

My sansui hdlcd1909 19 in. lcd tv won't turn on. the standby red light blinks once, what can i do to turn it on?

sounds like bad capacitors on the power board. Very common problem. I would look at the caps if any appear even slightly rounded on top they are bad. They should be perfectly flat on top any puffing up means replace that cap.

Good day!!!

if you have power problem without blinking lights or standby lights (red) the possible problem is power supply board..However if the TV have blinking or standby light but won't turn ON..there are multiple cause of that and need further troubleshooting..

TV won't turn on. flashes a series of 5 red lights instead of turning green

Usually Sony and LG Blinking Codes are the same. Here is what I have.
  • Unit is dead, No blinks - Problem in the standby power section. Might check fuse,
  • Continuous blink once a second, no pausing - No reply from the jungle IC301 (data bus is busy, shorted to ground, or held high), IK video path is defective.
  • One blink - not used for the self-diagnosis
  • Two blinks - B+ over current protection (OCP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 2 blink fault. Could be a short in the power supply of any of the circuits.
  • Three blinks - B+ over voltage protection (OVP), unit goes to the standby mode then displays the 3 blink fault. This is also a problem in the power supply circuit,
  • Four blinks - No vertical Deflection (V STOP), Screen goes to a single horizontal line then the video signal muted.
  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen slightly.
  • Six blinks - No Horizontal (H STOP), no raster, goes to the blinking self-diagnosis function immediately.
  • Seven blinks - High voltage shutdown. The high voltage has exceeded 33k and the unit goes immediately into safety shutdown. Check power supply regulation and horizontal circuits.
  • Eight blinks - Problem with the audio (AUDIO), unit goes to standby and blinks the self-diagnosis code.
  • Nine blinks - Panel Module Error or Thermal Error. If it is intermittent 9 blinks, meaning sometimes the TV comes on and other times you get flashing Make sure the regulator is -12 or -13 (negitive).
  • Ten blinks - Check Q8014 and Q8013 for shorts, leakage, or bad solder connections on the " D" board. If the transistors are bad, check R8051 and IC8005, also on the "D" board.

I have a Sony KDS-R50XBR1 that has no picture. When I turn on the TV, the green Power/Standby LED light blinks for about 30 seconds, then turns red and blinks five times. The Power/Standby LED repeats...

  • Five blinks - AKB circuit (automatic kine bias), the timer/standby indicator blinks for about 30 seconds then goes to the self-diagnosis function. Something is wrong with the video. Check video out, Q705, 732, 761 and other components on the C board, also check Q218, 219, 220 on the A board. In addition, unit could be in IK blanking, try turning up screen A2 slightly.

No powering up

2 blinks is +B OCP protection. The manual states "Short circuit of power supply system in each circuit." and "Goes to the standby mode. Short circuit of +B line"
