go to this link http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=24 download winxp sp3 exe follow instructions disregard for IT professionals and developers this is the download you need after installing goto windows update and download and install updates
sp3 is an essential download, yes you should get it .its bugs have been worked out.its also critaical to keep your pc safe from hackers and such.Shouldnt have a problem with it,but even if u did just uninstall it..
First off, lets try a few things. This will help us narrow it down:
Try typing other known commands to see if they work (ipconfig for example)
Do a search on your computer for cmd.exe (you should only have 1, and it should be in the system32 folder.)
try typing cmd.exe instead of just cmd.
Give those a shot and report back. Depending on which one of these give you a problem, it could point to the correct fix.
The reason I say this is that your easiest solution may be to upgrade to SP3. The only times I've ever heard someone having this problem was also in SP2.
You need to download all the drivers installer files from manufacturer website first, and also all the software you want to install automatically with Windows. Then you build a Windows Xp boot CD with all the software setup embedded.
