Call your local appliance repair shop. You probably just have a bad switch. They can usually tell you right over the phone. Might even be something you can fix yourself without paying for a service call. Just the purchase of the switch. Good luck!

Dryer will not stop running

If the start switch is stuck or the start knob is stuck in the start position the dryer will run when the door is closed, and the timer is at at a time setting. if you have no heat you might need a heating element or your unit might have a thermal fuse that would need replacing.

Replaced motor now it will not shut off, it runs with the timer in off position. turn start knob motor starts.timer in any position. will shut off when open door

I am assuming that you installed the motor correctly or the motor would not start and run. Most likely, when the motor went bad it also took out the timer with it, or whatever caused the motor to go bad, also caused the timer to go bad also. Either way i believe the problem is with the timer. You could test the contacts in the timer if you know how to use an ohm meter and read a wiring diagram. My bet is on the timer.

Dryer will start run 5 minnutes shut down

After the dryer has been started to run, the motor will stop only when at least one of the motor feeder circuit wires is disconnected. The main feed line is routed through the timer while the neutral feed line is routed through the door switch. Hence, the problem is either the timer or the door switch. But the dryer shuts down 5 minutes after it is started and this signifies a dead spot in the timer that discontinues the main feed line shutting the motor down and also the timer motor. If the timer stops at the same point, then the timer is faulty and needs to be replaced.

Replacing the timer is an easy task that an average handy housewife can do. Just make sure the power to the dryer is disconnected prior to servicing to avoid the risk of electric shock.

Pull the timer knob off the console then remove the screws attaching the console rear panel to the console and move the panel away.

Disconnect the wires from the timer terminals one at a time then connect it to the new timer to avoid swapping out the wires.

Remove the screws securing the timer to the bracket then remove the timer and secure the new timer in place. Put the console rear panel back into position and secure it with the screws.

Dryer automatically starts when the door is shut

Hello there:
This may not be just a timer issue this could be the door switch that is not operating correctly if this switch fails they will fail in the run position meaning the unit will want to run automatically when the door is closed
so what you are going to want to do is to try to remove the door switch and see if the dryer now runs if not there is the problem simply get a new one and reinstall it now if it is the timer you will have to remove the back panel the panel behind the knobs in the back it should have 8 screws
now after it is removed locate the timer it should be the one that controles the different time settings on the dryer. simply remopve the wires attached to it and mark them so you know where they go and get a new one and install and replace the wires and test if all is good than put the back cover back on ok
Hope this is very helpful for you
Best regards MIchael

The timer is running but the dryer will not come

If a dryer is not working at all that's not good! But it doesn't mean you need to go appliance shopping just yet. It may be something very simple like a bad door switch or even a broken door switch actuator, in a kenmore dryer there is a tab thats sticks out of a hole in the wall that allows the dryer to run only if the door is shut, other models may have button that protrudes out of the dryer and when the door is shut, this allows the dryer to run. These switches go out from time to time, also if a dryer is full of lint build-up over time this will cause the dryer high limit or fuse to blow. The fuse is located near where the blower is in most cases. When the air in the dryer gets way too hot the fuse/hi-limit will blow and the house wont burn down

Roper dryer won't shut off

The timer motor isn't moving the timer. You'll need to replace the timer. Turning the timer **** to off should stop the machine.
Exception: If the shutting the door automatically starts the motor, then the start switch/relay is probably shorted.
