my psc 1510xi is the same. i don't even want to print i only want to scan but i have to run a page through. waste the paper and ink. HP is nothing but a piece of corporate ***** ****!

i unplug my print because i don't use it for weeks on end. if you feel the back, when turned off, it's hot as a pancake. that means it's using lots of power even when off. in collusion with the power companies. our country has turned into nothing but a bunch of filthy corporate whores along with the ***** politicians who are being paid off.

Hi,

I used to have the same problem with the 1510 and other HP models. The solution is not to have any paper in the tray when you turn it on. When the error flashes up, hold the cancel/resume button (it will be flashing orange on the printer) until all activity ceases in the printer. You can then cancel the message on the PC and load the paper when you are ready to print.

The actual solution to this problem is to read the instructions!! They are printed right there in front of you each time it prints one of those annoying test pages. Once printed, you must place the test page on the scanner bed and press scan. This will complete the head alignment process that is required each time that a new ink cartridge is installed. It's not a conspiracy, it's a poorly described attempt to make your life easier.

My HP printer PSC 1510 All-in-One no longer asks me to align my ink cartridges after a change of cartridges. Now, after a system recovery, it prints an alignment page every time I turn it on, whereas...

The only way to stop this is to press the cancel button, just as it tries to print the test page.

Various people have said the printer won't align (calibrate) successfully unless both ink cartridges are more than 50% full, and until it aligns successfully, it will continue to print the test page on start-up.

It is a total waste of ink and paper, so remember to hit the cancel button when you turn it on.
