Question about Dometic Rooftop RV Air Conditioner

1 Answer

Airconditioner unit on my RV will not run.

The airconditioner ran great all day. I came back to ther RV and the air was off. I went to the thermostat and shut it off then put it back to air. It did not come on. I can here it click in the control box but that is it. Could it be a bad relay switch?

Thanks for your help,

Craig

I have a 5 button duo therm with a gas furnace. The ac worked fine all day but would not stop cooling last night. I set the thermostat to 99 degrees and it still would not turn off. Tenperature outside was 90 degrees when i noticed the problem. The coach was like a meat locker.

Check to see if you have the proper voltage to the air conditioner and check your breaker. The clicking you are probably hearing is the thermostat opening and closing when you turn it up or down.

Rv airconditioner trips breaker

Does it trip when fan only , or when compressor for cool cuts in? Sounds like capacitor perhaps . Get back to me with model number, and whether it's a ducted system, or blows out at ceiling assembly.

Duo therm rv airconditioner pulls 17 amps, with compressor running. It cools very well though.

Check incoming voltage first to make sure it's not dropping under load, or low to begin with. Any poor voltage or long runs of extension cords could be causing voltage to drop, thus raising amperage draw.

Airconditioner does not cool

If compressor runs, freon low, if comp wont run, can be stat or compressor, etc. they are 650 dollars new online so not an economically viable repair if too involved at all, a throw away unit essentially, no offense.

The airconditioner is drawing too many amps and is tripping the breaker during the day at night it seems to run ok

Check the condenser fan and see if it is running. If it's not it will cause the head pressure to rise and the unit will work harder. This will be more noticable in the heat of the day. Also check your air filter. Let me know what you find and we'll go from there.

I have an airconditioner a Kelvinator KSR20C Split system

Your condensor fan motor has more than likely gone out. This fan should run at all times when the unit is on. Since the fan isn't working then the motor must have gone out.

The thromstat may be bad but it sounds like there is a loose connection where the wires plug on to the back side of the thromstat.

Any RV dealer should have the part or be able to order it for you

Air conditioner

Airconditioner compressors has so little voltage tolerance, if voltage is lower than its rated, it will not run at all. I suggest you let the generator run at full first before turning on your airconditioning.

Duo Therm Model 59516.531 RV Airconditioner not cooling

The refrigerants in these units is R-22 But there is no reason to think the system has a leak. You need to confirm that the comprerssor is running. This requires an ammeter. If you don't have one call a technician.

NewAir AirConditioner on "Dehumidifier" Mode Only

I have a 3 ton a/c system that removes about 5-6 gallons of water from the air per day. Most portable dehumidifiers/air-conditioners rate at approx 1/2 to 3/4 of a ton. Your water output is pretty much normal.
