Question about Kenwood 1090MD CD Player

Open Question

Fluoresecent Display - Harmon Kardon "Festival 60" Micro Stereo

The fluoresecent display (AM/FM/RDS, CD status, etc.) is no longer uniform in its intensity or colour. Part of it is bright and other parts of the display are dull or faded out. I can still see the characters, but not as they once appeared. Can the display be 'restored' to its original state. The unit works perfectly otherwise. I can't attribute this chnage to any particular cause (ie. a power surge, or similar event). One day it was fine, the next day the problem appeared. Help please. Thanks Michael

Harmon Kardon CDR 2 no power

Check its fuse at the power supply section. If found opened, never insert an other one, till the fault has been rectified. Without any fault, the fuse won't go out. Try this to understand.

Harmon/kardon TL8600 5 Disc Compact Changer does not register the CD in its rotary carousel. Any ideas or suggestions as to the malfunction ?

The problem is in the laser pickup assembly, over time it becomes weak until it can no longer read the information, one possibility is to use a CD cleaning kit and follow instructions, this will clean the optical lens and in some cases bring it back to life. If this fails cheaper to replace the item.

I have a harmon kardon cdr 30 cd recorder. After a power outage the unit no longer turns on. A surge must have blown something.

First thing to do is disconnect the unit from the mains supply for 15 mins to allow for a hardware reset, and then power it up and try again. If it does not come up, then the power supply has been damaged by a power surge associated with the outage. You may have no choice but to take the unit to an authorised HK repairer. Let me know how you get on with resetting the unit. Please take the time to rate this solution. Happy to talk to you more about it. Cheers

its the ribbon wire inside i have the same deck with the same problem and it cost me 100$ to have it fixed since the warranty was no longer valid any pioneer repair place can do this for you. All you need to do is take them the head unit not the wiring harness so at least you dont have to unhook it all

Swop the CDR into the tape outputs on the amp and use it just like the tape recorder you had hooked up. Also do a direct digital link to a CD player for digital copies.
