Dryer wont dry

Our Neptune dryer bought in 2003 takes forever to dry clothes. We cleaned the exhaust vent all the way to the outside but that didn't help.

Make sure the vent is not clogged. Its in the bottom of back side. Typically vented outside. Also, verify your heater elements are working by running dryer with door open to check for heat

Too long to dry my clothes

HI,

It normally takes about 45 minutes for a dryer to dry a full load. If your dryer is taking more than an hour, check these.

Vent
Heating element
Internal ductwork
Cycling thermostat
Vent Frequently there's an obstruction in the vent duct from the dryer to the outside of the house. For the dryer to heat properly, the duct must be clean and clear of lint or any other substance.

Heating element Your dryer's heating element may be partially burned out. If it is, your dryer still heats, but at such a low temperature that it takes three or four times as long to dry the clothes. If the element is partially burned out, replace it.

Internal ductwork Your dryer has some internal ductwork. If it gets clogged, your dryer can't dry properly. In most dryers, to get to the internal ductwork to clear the clog, you have to substantially disassemble the dryer. A quick way to check for internal clogs is to remove the lint filter and use a flashlight to inspect the inside of the duct. If it looks clogged and you can't clear it using your vacuum, contact a qualified appliance repair technician.

Cycling thermostat Although this isn't a common problem, one of the thermostats that controls the temperature in your dryer may break and cause the dryer to heat poorly. If so, you need to replace it. The thermostat is usually a small, round, black device mounted to an oblong steel plate. The plate is mounted to the internal ductwork with two screws.

Turn dryer on and go outside to the vent and check for a good amount of air coming out. If you do not have a good amount of air coming out, take the exhaust tubes apart and clean.

The Neptune has been taking forever to dry

when a dryer takes along time to dry you have a venting problem,, icant telll u if lint is clogged up inside the unit,, or lint is inside you venting, or if lint is cloggged up inside you vent piping through the hose,,, this is common if you have a long vent distance before it exits the house, or possibly the vent is kinked and your dryer is pushed back to far.....

to check undo the venting to back of the dryer and run a load of clothes with no venting hooked up if this drys faster than u know that where your blockage is occuring......

A lil trick also check outside when running you should feel air blowing
also use a leaf blower from inside put in hole of ducting andd blow that line out clean it out hope this helps feel free to leeave me a testimonal leetting me know how things went ...k take care good day

Taking long time to dry the clothes

Due to a dryer either heats or no heat , I would suggest pulling the dryer out and removing the vent hose . Dry a load of clothes to see if they dry normally . If they do , this verifys that the vent hose is either kinked ( restricting air flow ) , or , if the vent runs UP inside the wall , there is a restriction between the inside vent hose to the outside vent . May have to go into the attic to clean .

Dryer heats up ands pins, but it takes forever to

Hi, First thing to check is the 4" venting to the outside. Make sure it is free of any lint and that there are no kinks in the hose. If this is a gas dryer, the couls on top if the gas valve could be getting over heated and not opening the gas valve later in the cycle so there will be no heat.
Please let me know if this helps you or if I can assist you further.

Thanks
Vic

Dryer is taking forever to dry clothes.

you better not use the dryer again until you can clean the entire vent system-----not just the lint filter , but the back of the dryer and the complete exhaust duct all the way to the outside. It is probably plugged. Also check to make sure nothing is blocking the air intake. I know a co worker who had a house fire due to a blocked vent. After the vent is clear, make sure you can feel a good stream of air coming out at the outsde of the vent.

Dryer gets hot but wont dry clothes

Do you know if the dryer vent is free of obstructions?Check outside where the dryer vents outside ,and see if the air is weak or flowing freely. If it is not clogged the air should be pretty strong from the vent outside. If it has blockage it will definitly take longer to dry your clothes.

Maytag Neptune Dryer is taking over an hour to dry a load

Check the exhaust vent out back of dryer to see if exhaust pipe going outside is crimped or blocked. Let me know if air flow is better if pipe is pulled off back of dryer. Thanks, Sea Breeze

Cleaned vent hose, dryer still taking forever to dry clothes.

you have a family of squirrels living in the rest of the vent tube which is leading outside...check vent outside. I once had flying squirrels come into my house through the dryer vent! My dog had a kitten.
