Question about Panasonic KV-S7065C Flatbed Scanner

Inconsistent tif file creation with Panasonic KV-s7065c

Hi there, Details: Scanner is atttached by USB 2.0 to host pc. OS - Windows XP - SP2 & most of the recent hotfixes. I have downloaded and installed the latest twain driver from Panasonic (6.00) dated 30 August '07. I am using an in-house twain based application. The papers being scanned do vary in thickness and colour and tone etc (they are usually customer letters). Depending upong the type of paper, the scanned image file can sometimes be invalid and unable to be opened and sometimes a large tif is created for no apparent reason (around 1.6mb instead of the usual 50 to 100kb) other than the piece being scanned is a photocopy of a small item such as a driver permit and there are grey tones in the background where the scanner's own lid appears. Using the same application with the previous Fujitsu high speed scanner (SCSI connected) did not cause these results. Is there some type of automatic image detection or assessment being done by the twain driver which explains these different results? BTW I get the same results on the flatbed as I do on the ADF. Any help is greatly appreciated. Kind regards, Howlin

Drivers HP scanjet 4400c for windows 7

This worked for me:
Do NOT connect scanner before these first few steps
1. Download & save win xp drivers from HP website:
The 63.4mb file is the only one you'll need
2. Right-click on the saved file and go to its properties. Under the compatibility tab, set the file to run with win xp service pack 3. Apply changes and close properties dialogue.
3. Right click on the same file and choose 'run as administrator'. Accept any windows prompts that may appear and let the program & drivers install.
4. Once the software has finished installing, connect the scanner to your computer (via USB) and turn the scanner on.
5. Restart the computer without unplugging or turning the scanner off.
6. Your scanner should now work fine with the HP Precisionscan Pro utility.

The lamp is dead. I cannot find a replacement for under $1200.00 Can this be true?

It's not just the lamp they're selling, it's the whole lamp fitment.

Cheaper to buy new, I guess.

Its broken

Be sure you have installed all the drivers and softwared needed. Power the scanner off, then download and install the following from this website:
  • STI device driver
  • TWAIN driver
  • ISIS driver
  • User Utility
After all have been installed, reboot your computer. Once booted, power on your scanner and allow Windows to locate and finish installing the drivers.

Make it work with VISTA home premium

What version of Windows are you using it on at present, or have you been in the
past? If XP then get the latest versions from:

There's a main download and an update.

If you have any HP software that you have tried uninstall it using Remove
Programs and then disconnect the USB cable from the PC end and install the XP
software as follows:

Locate the downloaded file ps804en.exe 1/1 (70.62M) on your computer, Right
Mouse Click on it and select Properties / Compatibility TAB.

On that TAB, check Use Compatibility mode and set it to XP with SP2 and also
check lower down the [x] Run as Administrator and OK your way out.

Do not connect the device until the installation procedure tells you to or
until you get to Finish.

Then repeat the procedure on the downloaded update file ps803mu.exe 1/1
(373.11k) although you can leave the USB cable connected unless it tells you

Scan only in jpg.

If you want to scan in TIFF, you need to scan in monochrome only. (B&W). Change SCanner settings.

Check this out :

1) One of your USB devices have faulted, or is causing a resource conflict (or similar)
-- Remove all USB devices, and reboot.
2) Your USB chip/ports have been damaged.
-- Find a spare HardDisk or bacjup your data and re-install Windows and see how that goes.
3) Your Power Supply Unit (PSU) isnt supplying enough power to your PC (usually caused by a Video card upgrade). Try a more powerful PSU ... 400watts should do the trick
4) Bad memory (RAM) can cause wierd problems. run memtest for an hour to make sure your memory is ok

It seems that many people are still getting the 'USB Device not Recognized' problem from time to time. Unfortunately there is no easy fix.
Firstly, it's recommended that you make sure every one of your motherboard drivers are completely up-to-date, but you probably already knew that.
In XP, after a USB port isn't used for a long while the USB driver built into the OS sets the OHCI controller to suspend. When you plug a device back in, it can sometimes fail to 'wake up' properly. This problem was supposedly fixed in SP1 but there is a related registry hack that may still be able to help.
Run regedt32.exe and navigate to;
Create the Usb key if it doesn't already exist. Under this key, create a new DWORD value called DisableSelectiveSuspend and give it a value of 1. Then restart the PC.
A long shot perhaps, but I recall having similar problems with a USB hub built into my Microsoft keyboard and adding this key seemed to solve it. It wouldn't hurt in trying .
Alternatively, removing all entries relating to USB in Device Manager and all associated USB drivers will force XP into refreshing the USB driver stack.
Begin by unplugging all USB devices, then use Add/Remove Programs in Control Panel to uninstall any USB driver software. Next, boot up into safe mode and go to Device Manager. Once in device manager make sure 'Show hidden devices' is checked under the View menu. Uninstall all device entries in this order;
1. USB peripheral devices (printers etc.)
2. HID and/or Composite USB (Human Interface Devices) You're using PS/2 input devices so you may not have this entry.
3. USB Root Hub(s)
4. USB Host Controller(s) (Universal or Enhanced Host Controllers)
Then boot back into Windows (not safe mode) and it should populate the Root Hubs & Host controllers again. Proceed to plug your USB devices back in, starting with your powered hub. Be aware that most USB printers and scanners need to have their drivers installed first before you plug them in.
Hopefully some of this may be of help, let us know how you get on.

Please let me know if u got help and rate this SOLUTION AS FIXYA if ur problem is fixed!
