Flash is turned off. How to turn it back on

Set the record/review selector to one of the record modes and the exposure mode dial to the desired function.
By repeatedly pressing the flash mode button you can set the various function types. They scroll through in an endless loop.
The corresponding symbols appear in the data field and the monitor.

The above is from the "Taking photographs with the built-in flash unit" section of the manual (page 131 in my copy). If you need a manual, you can download one here.

Blown out highlights keep blinking on lcd screen what do i need to do to correct this from happening.

While displaying an image on the screen, press the up or down arrows on the rocker switch (instead of the left or right arrow to change the displayed image). You'll page through the histogram and one or two others before the image alone is displayed.

Blown highlights indicate over exposure. You'll need to reduce aperture size / increase shutter speed to prevent this. You may have the light meter set to meter an unexpected location in the frame or have set the camera to over expose by 1, 2 or even 3 exposure values. Check you manual to review these settings if you can't find them by scrolling through the menus on your own.

Good luck!

I have a Sharp AL 1631 it won't print. It shows an H-4 in the menu screen

Press "Clear" then "Exposure Mode" then "Clear" then "Exposure Mode" quickly like within 4 seconds. The exposure mode key is the far left key.
If you do this correctly the display will go blank.
Key in 14 as if making 14 copies
Press the print button.
Short version: C, far left, C, far left, 14, print
The machine should reset and run fine. This is a common "false" code on these machines.
If it comes back after a couple of tries the you have a thermal fuse or heater lamp failure.

How do i get brighter pictures

There are only two options for adjusting the brightness of pictures in this camera, exposure and flash setting.

1. Flash Options: The flash is off by default. To turn it on you must press the button with the crooked down-arrow label between the DISP and MENU buttons, and the flash status will display in the top right-hand corner of the display screen. OFF displays the crooked down-arrow and a circle with a line through it. Press the button once for AUTO, displays the crooked down arrow with an "A" next to it. Press the button once more to force the flash, displays the crooked arrow only in the top right-hand display. Regardless of mode, the display will blink rapidly while the flash is charging and remain solid when it is charged and ready for use. Keep pressing the crooked down-arrow button to scroll continuously through the three OFF/AUTO/ON options.

2. Exposure setting: Press MENU, then the left arrow on the top right-hand four-way button on the camera until the COLOR menu is selected. Scroll down to EXPOSURE and press the MENU button again. You will see EV on the display. Use the up and down arrows to increase or decrease the exposure setting. 0.0 is default, you can go up to +1.5 or down to -1.5. Press MENU to exit when you're done. +1.5 would be the maximum brightness setting.
