Bernina Aurora 430 - oil light/indicator won't go away

I was sewing & got the oil light so I stopped and cleanedthe fuzz and put a couple of drops of oil in the hook race. Rethreaded &began to sew again, but flashing oil light will not go away. I turned off the machine and restarted, but oil light still flashing. I can't find my manual to see if this is normal. Any suggestions? I am hesitant to continue sewing. I don't want to screw up the machine.

I have been away from sewing for a while but have recently begun again. I have a Bernina 1010. The fabric feeder has quit working. Any trouble shooting tips? I no longer have my manual.

Hm, I'm more familiar with the Berninas older than the 1010. The old mechanicals will seize if they haven't been regularly oiled. Could be the feed dogs on your machine have seized for the same reason.

I've resurrected several seized Berninas from a 930 on down to some 530s by opening the top, side, and bottom and applying a couple drops of oil where metal rubs on metal. After the 830 Record, Bernina stopped including any extensive oiling directions in the owner's manual, even though the 930 requires it frequently. (Some say Bernina really wanted the repeat maintenance business, but the 930 also presented some special issues with the basting stitch and the electronic board.) However, I am uncertain how much a user can oil a 1010 without causing damage. Most Bernina manuals provide information for oiling the race but don't go beyond that. Something that may be worth trying is directing hot air from a handheld hairdryer into the area that houses the feed dogs to see if that loosens anything.

Whatever you do, don't use WD-40, 3-in-1, cooking oil, or anything other than fresh good quality sewing machine oil.

You can find a manual for the 1011 here. It may be close enough to your model to be of some use:

Bobbin case won't close. Stop start button is red. Oil can? Icon on screen

Consult your owner's manual. If you don't have one, go to and look in the Support section for a manual to download.

If the bobbin is not installed properly, the machine will not work. The oil can logo indicates that you should oil the machine according to the manual's instructions. Use Bernina oil for computerized sewing machines. Only one or two drops of oil in the locations(s) per the instructions.

Probably too thick to feed without dislodging the bobbin case, causing the error message.

Aurora 430 Bernina

Hi, possibly your feedogs are dropped and in the darning position and/or its thinking you want to embroider and there is NO hoop attached or entire embroidery unit plugged in. Check your feedog button below the handwheel on the bottom.

If you took the door off check and make sure the lower thread sensor on the door is snapped on correctly. Many times it gets put on beneith the bar rather than over it.

I have a Bernina Aurora 430 (not on your list). For some reason, the feed dogs have dropped. The button that usually drops them isn't working.

If you remove the metal plate on the bottom of your machine, you can see the workings of the feed dog raise and lower button. With some luck it just might be a screw that came out or it might be a broken spring inside the sewing arm.
Without a service manual or a view of what it should look like inside when it is functioning correctly, at best you would just be guessing. It should be a simple 5 min fix but it is best to take it to a Bernina dealer for proper repair. Good luck, bushvideo
