You can not connect subwoofer to this model of amplifier.
OK! Bugger!! .. but if I splice the RCA lead into the speaker "outs", would this not work? If so, have you any suggestions as to how I might best do this? Many thanks! [am a novice at this, as you might have picked up ..]
It is bad idea to connect subwoofer into speakers outs. Even if it works - the quality of sound will be worse than you expect to hear.
Hear you loud and clear [unfortunately]. Any other suggestions?
.. will this damage the SW in any way? And will it sounds so dreadfully pants that I'll notice?
Unfortunately, there is only one suggestion, I think. Get new amplifier, compatible with subwoofer. Or, if this amlifier is unreplaceble - connect Hi-End speakers and enjoy deep sound without subwoofer. This amp is enough powered to make sound from good speakers deep and loud.
Ok, you've won. Back it goes .. xx
Guess I'm too late, but you can connect it. You need a speaker level to line level converter

Page 44 - read about "humming".
If you have hum on the sub, is it there with and/or without the input cable attached?
Disconnect the input(s) and see if it hums in the absence of an audio source. A bad audio cable shield or unwisely-routed audio cables will allow entrance of unwanted signals from external power sources, magnetic fields, even dimmer-controlled track lights. Sometimes, simply reversing the orientation of the ac power plug can eliminate humming.
