Question about Office Equipment & Supplies

My Dell all in one 924 just decided it no longer detects the ink cartridges. Have unplugged, etc. and this isn't the first time I've had this issue. Using Dell's cartridges, took em out and printed alignment pages and did just see the message color one is low, BUT...is it time to recycle this and upgrade or can i continue to fumble my way through with this one?

    I'll try it and see. Have wasted so much time trying to figure it out myself already knowing it's not my area of expetise. Feel good about this exchange because the printer has some age tho not too much use. Thanks for talking in terms I can understand!

Have you attempted to clean the contacts on the cartridges and on the printer?

Your printer might need repair, and if its outside of warranty IT may be cheaper to purchase a new printer. The issue is most likely between the cartridge - cartrige carriers or between the carriers and the boards that control the carriers/cartridges.

My Dell All In One 924 printer keeps reading out - left cartridge incorrect - I am using the Dell Series 5 Blk cartridge and don't know what to do as the message keeps reappearing - help


Shut down the pritner and reset the cartirdges .Now in most cases the printer driver software can have errors while being in use or is shut down. So to reset remove your printer from the PC and uninstall the printer software. Now reinstall the printer software and then connect the Printer to be detected as a new hardware as it will be installed. Now check the printer properties to see the ink levels.
Activate head cleaning before a test is taken . Sometimes it is possible that the head is not reacting to the need of the PC command or can be an issue with ink drying or poor ink cartridge contacts. Sometimes the power supply unit must be checked as a poor SMPS unit can deliver low voltage and cause issues to the printer function. Check all the leads and connections of the mother board , the tags to the ink cartridge. Also check the mechanical settings of the ink cartridge , if jammed or tight remove motor and manually free the drive before it is set back.

I just replaced my ink cartridge and now it's printing blank pages. I've unplugged & restarted the printer however the problem still exists. The printer says there is an "alignment...


Run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to get the black ink flowing through the ink-jets inside the print-head.

Some printers REQUIRE an "alignment" step every time you change the ink-cartridges.
It only takes a few minutes, and it prints one or two pages of paper.

run a nozzle clean, perform the following steps:
  1. Verify the All-In-One Printer 924 is powered on and connected to a computer.
  2. Verify that the paper support (input tray) has clean, plain white paper loaded.
  3. Press the Menu button.
  4. Press the Down button until Mode: Maintenance appears on the LCD screen.
  5. Press the Menu button.
    The Dell 924 Maintenance Menu appears on the LCD screen.
  6. Press the Down button until Clean Cartridges appears on the LCD screen.
  7. Press the Start button.
    The AIO 924 prints the cleaning page. This process cleans the ink cartridges and resolves many print quality issues.

924 says that black ink cartridge not installed


Hmmm....that sounds to be an issue with the ink cartridges...

You might be using ink cartridges purchased other than Dell or Staples...since these are the two who sell Dell Ink.

If thats not true, then take out both the cartridges in the printer.

Lets isolate the issue

1. Try only Black cartridge on Color slot(right). If you get Install both ink cartridges error, then its an issue with the Black ink cartridges and if you get message that install Black ink cartridge then its an issue with the prrinter.

2. Now install only color cartridge on Black cartridges slot(left), If you get color cartridge missing then its an issue with the Black cartridges which you are using and if you get install both ink cartridges then its an issue with the black slot on printer.

3. If issue found to be with Black ink cartridge then wipe the Nozzles(bottom) of the ink cartridge with lint free cotton cloth from back to front 5-6 times.

4. Also try replacing the ink cartridges purchased only from Dell or from Staples. Purchased from somewhere else or refilled might not work.

5. If issue found to be with printer, then i would suggest you to purchase new printer then.

Problem with Dell ink jet refill....


Are you using the Dell software to replace the cartridge?
If you where just replacing without running the software then it wont know you have replaced the cartridge.

Dell photo 924 ink cartridge problems


Hi ,
if you are getting the msg color cartridge missing , maku sure that it is compatible with your printer , on the cartridges you will get the part no M4646/J5566 , look for those part no's and if it is giving the error msg on the LCD display of the printer , try using the old cartridge ...try the following steps
1) put the old cartridge in and then unplug the power adapter (Black box ) from the printer.

2) wait for 30 seconds and put back the power adapter and turn on the printer, and look for the msg on the printer display. if it gives the same error msg with the old as well as the new color cartridge then its an issue with the printer , and if it does not gives the error msg with the older one then its an issue with the cartridge and if you have purchase the cartridge from dell online/phone then call them back give the order no of the cartridge that u have purchased and they will replace it.

Refilled black ink before it ran out-now can use at all


After hours of reading about this I finally found the solution. This will NOT reset your levels but you will be able to print without being told you have empty levels.

Start, Control Panel, then Printers and Faxes.
On the next screen, Right click on your printer then on Printing Preferences. Now select the Advanced tab.

Near the bottom left, you will see more options. Click that and then Appearance. Check NEVER display printing status and make sure under Complete-A-Print, all is unchecked. Click OK at the bottom.

You can print without the stupid messages coming up. Dells printer ink cartridges have a computer chip in them and the refurbished ink does not which causes these error messages telling you your ink cartridges are empty.
