On my whirlpool gas range only 1 burner out of 5 will ignite. oven light works, oven ignites. only 3 months old and worked fine until now.

Most often when cleaning, soapis left behind and obstructs the flow of ignition gas normally directed at the exact point of the spark. Check this area and use a small wire brush to clean these area of the burners that do nto work. Let us know if this helps. Eric Campion

The striker button won't light the grill but a match will. It is an older Genesis Silver approximately five years old.

Hello,
If your piezzo ignitor is still sparking, but not lighting the burners, then you may have one of the following problems. 1) If you have a standard push button piezzo igniter or a rotary style igniter, check for spark. Can you hear or see the spark? It's hard to see the spark in bright daylight. It's easier to view the spark at dusk or dawn. It should spark an "arc" at the burner. If not, adjust it if necessary. 2) The igniter wire may have a short, causing the spark to arc somewhere else along the wire and not at the burner. Replace igniter wire. 3) It's also possible the igniter tip where it sparks has a cracked or broken porcelain portion of the igniter, causing the spark to not arc at the tip where it's supposed to. Replace the igniter piece. 4) Your burner may be clogged or rusted at the point where the ignitor sparks to light it. Clean the burner. 5) If your push button ignitor is not sparking at all, it may be stuck inside from being out in the weather. While pushing it, spray it with WD-40 to unstick it.
Hope this helps. Douglas

My grill will not ignite. I tried both ways. What could be wrong?i hear the gas but it wont start

Ok, here is a check list for you of the most common lighting problems:

1) Check your tank. Is it empty or nearly empty? The tare weight (T.W.) of your cylinder is stamped on the collar. That is the weight of your empty cylinder, usually around 18 lbs. Weigh it on your bathroom scale. Propane weighs 4.25 lbs/gal. If it weighs around 20 lbs or less - Refill it. If not, go to #2.

2) Make sure you didn't turn the gas on too fast. Some gas hoses have a built-in excess flow valve that stops the flow of gas to a trickle if opened too fast. Close the tank valve and let sit for a minute. Turn the tank valve slowly and then try lighting it again. If it doesn't, go to #3.

3) Is the igniter sparking? Some are battery powered-check the battery or replace it. If you have a standard push button piezzo igniter or a rotary style igniter, check for spark. Can you hear or see the spark? It's hard to see the spark in bright daylight. It's easier to view the spark at dusk or dawn. It should spark an "arc" at the burner. If not, adjust it if necessary. The igniter wire may have a short, causing the spark to arc somewhere else along the wire and not at the burner. Replace igniter wire. It's also possible the igniter tip where it sparks has a cracked or broken porcelain portion of the igniter, causing the spark to not arc at the tip where it's supposed to. Replace the igniter piece. If not, go to #4.

4) You may have a rusted, clogged or damaged burner or venturi tube. With a flashlight, check for spider webs, wasp nests or dirt (mud) dauber nests in the opening of the venturi tube where it connects at each gas valve orifice. Clean it out manually or blow it out with air compressor. Make sure the air adjustment opening has not been changed. If it's closed too much, it will be difficult to light and cause lazy yellow flames. If it's not clogged, the burner may just be old and rusted and the holes are not allowing much gas thru anymore. It's also possible the burner has rusted so bad, it has too large of holes, falling apart or cracks along the seams. If so, replace burners immediately. It is unsafe to use. Your local propane co can usually order what you need and some will even do the work, if you are uncomfortable doing it.

Hope this helps! Good luck in your trouble shooting!

Cannot light new burners

I just replaced my burners and I also cleaned the starters. Get a wire brush about the size of a tooth brush to clean the starter, the thing that makes the spark to start the flame.

Clean or replace the main igniter. The backs corrode and need to be cleaned or replaced. Home Depot carry replacement parts.

Lighting Problem/2 year-Old Ducane Grill

Do you have enough gas pressure coming out of the regulator and gas valve? You'll need a pressure guage for this.

If yes, try taking out the burners and cleaning them with a wire brush, especially the flame spreading sections.

Ignition

When you turn the gas valve to High or Ignite position..do you hear or smell gas going into the gas burner? If yes, then look at the position of the igniter in respect to the gas burner to see if it generates a spark either with or without gas running.. .. if you have gas entering the gas burner.. and if you've used the Grill a lot.. the jets may be clogged and need cleaned to allow gas flow thru them.. if the jets from the burner are clogged in or near the igniter..it may not ignite easily untill you get lots of propane in the area.. Check the gas jets to make sure you have gas coming out and then check the igniter to make sure it generates a spark.. Hope that helps..

Weber Genesis Gold B Grill Problem

Could be partially clogged burner openings (jets).
Remove the cooking grates and the flavorizer bars. Obtain a BRASS brush (like used to clean white-wall tires) and brush the burner tubes from side to side and up and down along their entire length to remove all corrosion from the jets. Also the cross-over tube.
Before replacing the flavorizer bars and cooking grates, ignite all burner tubes and check to see the flames are all of about equal length and intensity.
If this isn't the problem, check the screens at the right-side ends of the burner tubes to be sure they're not clogged.
If the burner tubes are all clean and some don't ever ignite, the problem could be in the valves/manifold.

Ignite prob

You've got two different things going on.  First - the type of igniter used on your model does wear.  I have had mine for over 10 years and have gone through 3 such igniters - and I grill nearly 3 times per week over the 25 week "grilling" season where I live. Spring for the $12 part and just replace it. The other issue sounds like a clogged cross-over system.  I would remove the burners, including the cross-over bar on the far left side that connects them.  Clean the exterior with a stiff steel/brass brush and the inside with a bottle brush.  Make sure all the holes are clear to allow gas to flow easily - use a wooden tooth-pick to do this to make sure you don't change the size of the holes! Put that baby back together and I think you'll find you'll be good as new!
These grills are great.  Now, if Weber could only fix the uneven heat problem between the left and right side I'd REALLY be happy!  (I wish they would even just admit there IS a problem!)
Good luck and happy grilling.
