There no screws under the DVD player at all. There only two screws on the edge of the laptop.

Hello Weasel, Thank you. I think I understand now where the screws are.

Usually with laptops, there's a single screw which holds the drive in place; it is meant to be interchangeable. For your particular model, check here:

http://www.irisvista.com/tech/laptops/toshiba-satellite-p205/removing-motherboard-1.htm

To locate the screw in question: it should be approximately 5 inches in from the side of the laptop, and roughly in the center of the width of the drive itself. It won't hurt to unscrew a few screws in that area underneath, you'll eventually get the right one, and the laptop should be fine as long as you only remove a few and remember to put them back afterwards.

Also, be aware that your optical drive may or may not have an adapter screwed onto the connector end, to make the universal slimline drive connector match your laptop's proprietary IDE connector. This piece, if present, should be removed and attached to the new optical drive you plan on putting in.

Hope this helps!

    Hello,

Looks like there's one screw hidden under the Toshiba label on the bottom, and two along the edge where the dvd door is, hidden by two small round covers.. See "Step 4" in the link above for a picture.

Of course, your P205 may be slightly different. I used to have a Toshiba Satellite M55 series, which I took apart lots of times and it was completely different from any instructions I was able to find on the net.

    Hope this helps more!

Laptop dvd player stuck on region 1 need 4 for

Try changing the region by right clicking your DVD drive in explorer and select properties, go to hardware tab, select your DVD brand and type, click properties, go to DVD region, and change the region.. Just remember, any DVD only allowed to change the region for about 4 times, after that, you can't change the region anymore..
