Question about Char-Broil Grilling

2 Answers

I have a 2 year old 4 burner Iseries Char Broil Grill with side burner. It will not light. I tried different gas canisters and checked for spark from the igniter (there was). I wire brushed thegas jets. Nothing worked. What should I do?

I found a regulator and hose at Sears for $25. I then looked at the grill to determine that the regulator/hose can be disconnected. While the hose appears to have a nut, the connection is up agianst a panel under the burner assembly and difficult to reach comfortably. I do not see how I can attach a pliers/wrench to the line and a wrench to the nut and get enough leverage to turn the nut. Any suggestions?

It sounds like your problem is probably the propane regulator. It's should be mounted on the inside of the frame near where you put the propane tank, and the hose for the tank will run into this. This part is a safety feature that will not allow flames to feed back into the tank, so do NOT by-pass. You should be able to find one at a reasonable price at your local major hardware store. Let me know if this helps :)

hmmm... well, you could try to remove the cover and slide it down the hose far enough to reach the fitting easily, or loosen the mounts for the actual burner or valve that the hose attaches to and move them to a better position.

Should be able to get the burner assembly at any Lowes or Home depot store and not hard to change out. Old one lifts out and new sits right in. Hope this helps.

If you have 20lb gas tank, you could try opening the bottle really slowly. The newer tanks are equipped with a device called OPD, which means, overfill protection device, so when you take it to be refilled the filling station can't over fill it. However, if you open the tank too fast, it will cause this device to restrict the gas flow to the grill.

most likely burner problem try removing burners (they generally just lift out or held by 1 or 2 screws) clean the sides of the burners with wire brush most likely then orifices on burners are clogged hope that works for you
