Sounds like the magnetron has failed. This is the component that produces the microwaves that heats the food.

The cost of the magnetron is about 95% of the cost of a microwave oven. Most people don't, for this reason, replace the magnetron, they replace the whole oven which is probably what you will end up doing.

There is a possibility that the circuit that provides power to the magnetron is faulty and you need to take it apart, find the proper electrical leads and test them with a volt meter. To do this you have to remove it from its mounting and take it apart. It is a fairly lengthy process however.

Should i keep the capacitor installed in the microwave before testing? Should i plug the microwave to electricity. Before testing?

If you are testing the capacitor, it needs to be out of the circut. Be aware that a cap can retain voltage after the power has been unhooked.

That is a sign the magnetron has shorted and is the most expensive part to replace.

Does not heat food-master relay reset, all electric OK (fan runs, time & all other settings show OK, turntable rotates), door closed tightly, control lock

THere are three possibilities, open magnetron "heats food" cracked high voltage diode, or a shorted high voltage capacitor.

Don't heat consistantly micro or conv--sympthems-- no oven light no heat --occasionally ok--- ser. #113806

Hello there,

The problem could be from the power diode. A diode is an electronic component that readily passes current in one direction only and blocks the flow of current in the opposing direction. If your microwave's diode has become defective, your microwave will not heat and you will hear a buzzing noise. Test the diode to determine if this is the cause of your problem. Replace it if it is defective.
Also a capacitor could be faulty. A capacitor is an electrical device which stores electricity. A defective capacitor may be why your microwave is not heating or working intermittently. The capacitor will have to be tested to determine if this is the cause of your problem. A defective capacitor will have to be replaced before your microwave will work again. Make sure you discharge the capacitor before you test it, though.
Finally, the magnetron could be faulty. A defective magnetron is the third possible cause of why your microwave is not heating. Test your microwave's magnetron. Replace it if it is defective.
You will have to test them and replace the faulty component amongst the three factors.
Hope this helped.
All the best.

When press START microwave timer starts but will not heat?

Your door safety interlock switches are the primary candidate for this problem. The oven thinks the door is open because one or both of the switches are faulty or out of alignment. When the door is open, NO HEAT. Check em out.

Doesn't heat

If the microwave is working ok, it should heat up. First check the fuse inside if it ok then it looks like your microwave generator has gone bad. You will have to take it to the vendor and have it fixed with warranty.

Used tefle coated tin micro+convection oven

There are some times when it is ok to use metallic stuff in a microwave. This is probably one of them. But you won't get the manufacturer to agree. Metal concentrates the microwave energy making a strong enough local electric field to cause sparks and heat. Usually burns that spot. Do you have one of those popcorn cookers for microwaves? Works by heating a special pad in the bottom just right.
What the manufacturer is saying in the warning is:
Don't sue us if you use metal in this oven and something goes wrong.
