Well I'm glad everything worked out.
So you just pried the DVD tray open with a paper clip and it opened releasing the DVD and computer worked again?
I'll have to try and remember that hahaha
Hope you have a great week too ^_^

Hello I have a gateway mx8738 laptop operating system not found

Is this happening when your using a DVD disc to watch movie? Then when it boots back up it trys to boot from your video DVD. It wouldn't do that if you take the DVD out before it boots. But, that is only is your using a DVD or cd. If not then you might want to change your video software. The computer is probably still down when it's booting up again and can't find OS. Hope this helps you!

Dvd burner/ cd rom drive not working

Sounds like a failed optical drive as it was requiring more power to operate normal. Will it even open if you try the software method (right-click on the drive in My Computer and select Eject)? You could also try manually ejecting the tray if there is a manual eject hole you can insert a straightened paperclip into. You will most likely need to replace the optical drive.

Hey,

There is a small hole in the cd / dvd drive tray, you can use a needle or something small to push in, it will eject the drive tray and the cd.

Thanks,
