My cousinart blender is leaking. It appears that the locking ring may have been screwed in a bit crooked as the rubber washer is not sitting flush and tight. My problem is that the locking ring is so tight I can't get it apart. Has anyone had this problem, and a maybe a solution to what I should do?

Sounds like the locking ring is cross threaded. It will be difficult to unscrew, but the only solution is to remove it and put it back on strait. soaking it in hot water may help if there is a dried liquid acting as an adhesive.

SOURCE: leaking blender

It could be the gasket, could definitely be that crack in the collar, and even possibly the blade assembly - here is the official website to get all of those parts:

SOURCE: leaking blender

Mine also leaked from day 1. I just read in the manual to first place the bottom and blade assembly on the counter, then seat the gasket around the blade assembly, making sure it is just under the lip of the blade piece (careful, you have to maneuver around the blades). Then place the jar on the assembly and screw in tightly. This worked and I have no more leaks.
This is different than other blenders where you place the gasket on the jar and then attach the bottom. It is a poor design, but after what I paid for it, I am glad to be able to use it and not just trash it.

I have the cuisinart SPB-7 Smart Power and it leaks. I put my milk in and it run on the counter top. What do I need to replace? Is it the washer?

The bottom part that screws on the jug with the blades, either the o-ring is bad,or the screw on piece is cracked and needs to be replaced.

My blender appears to be leaking from the bottom. Is it likely to be the jug or the coupling to the motor?

It is likely to be the rubber washer on the jug. You will need to disassemble the mixing blades and remove the rubber washer(s) from the jug and take it with you to a Target, Walmart or kitchen store. They usually carry a varity of the washers and you should be able to compare yours to get the right size. Some actually tell you exactly what mixers they fit.

Leaking from around the base of the jug

When you clean your blender there is a rubber washer in between the blades and where they sit and the glass. Try pushing the blade assembly through the bottom and locate the large washer. Peal it off carefully under warm water then either try to replace it or clean it carefully in soapy dish water. Let me know if this helps, OK?

Rubber washer for Model TSK-9368AP Blender

I just fixed mine with a rubber hose washer. I had to cut the washer in half because it was too thick, but it stopped the leak!

My Cuisinart blender start leaking after a few months of use.

Here is a list of things to check for:
1. Make sure the blender base (black plastic) is tight to the jar.
2. Make sure you have installed the rubber washer between the blender blade assembly and the jar.
3. Make sure your rubber washer is free from any crud that may have accumulated and dried on. You may have to soak the washer and gently scrub with a scrubber sponge. If it's really cruddy you may have to repeat as necessary.
4. Make sure you have not caught any water (or other liquid) when filling it between the base and the jar. When you pour out the contents it will appear as if it is leaking.

Putting glass and washer together

  1. Place glass container upside down on safe working area.
  2. Place rubber gasket/ring on top of opening first.
  3. Place stirring or mixing blade on top of rubber gasket/ring.
  4. Take the plastic retainer and screw it on over everything previously assemble.
  5. Hand tighten only enough that you can reverse the whole operation when comes cleaning and disassemble time.

Leaking from the bottom of the glass container through the screw

Check the rubber gasket for damage or hardening and also for chipped glass on the sealing surface. Make sure the ring is not cracked causing loss of compression of the seal.

Also check that the leak is NOT at the shaft seal. Replacement parts should be readily available,

Krups blender drive gear

Ed,

The problem I had was removing the grey rubber drive. The solution is that it screws off not pops off. The trick is to use narrow needle nose pliers to grab the post that attaches to the motor and turn the rubber drive counter clockwise. Removing the motor becomes easy. Pull out the 4 rubber feet under the base and the screws will be exposed. However my situation was the grey drive gear was stripped and would bottom out. My solution was to use a same size lock washer as the washer between the post and the drive. So far so good! If it fails I will need to buy another grey drive. Myron
