I'm assuming you have a laptop. check connections to the power cord.

laptops do NOT need a battery in to run.

if it won't start without the battery in it, your power supply has issues. possibly a kink in the cable, possibly just burnt out.

    Dunno why I got a 2... anyway

by power cord do you mean the cord to the power supply or the entire plug to laptop piece....

if not you could have a broken connection on your power connection - solder can chip and crack.

Why is my laptop unable to run off battery power, even though battery shows fully charged and AC is unplugged

It's time for you to replace your battery.

how old is your laptop? and how do u use it - do u leave it plugged into the wall socket all the time? It's common for batteries to die out after a couple of years. however, if the computer overheats or if you leave it plugged in all the time, it's life cycle will decrease. Charge - discharge cycles. That's how you are suposed to do it.

My printer wont turn on even though it's connected to direct power supply. Why wont it turn on?

Generally the troubleshooting steps are:
  1. disconnect the printer from the data cable to the computer and plug directly into a wall outlet bypassing any power strips/battery backup and then see if it will power on. If it does, run a self test and see if it prints.
  2. If still in a no power state, unplug the power adapter from the wall and the printer, wait 5 minutes, then plug into wall, then in to printer and try to power on again.
  3. If still no power and under warranty, contact manufacturer for repairs/replacement.
  4. If not under warranty and an Inkjet, almost assured it will be less expensive to replace than to repair:

My Dell laptop will not switch on even though fully charged

If you can't turn it on with just the battery connected, try plugging it in also. If it still doesn't turn on, disconnect it and remove the battery. Wait several minutes and put the battery back in and plug the power supply back in.
Now try it. If it works, unplug the power supply and see if it stays on. If not, the battery is dead.
Oh--another thing to try--take the battery out and try running it just plugged into the wall.
If none of these work, you have a motherboard issue.

TOSHIBA U400 running VISTA; When I am on battery and get low i plug in so i can continue working but even though the lighted icons on the laptop show it is plugged in and charging and the toolbar icons...

Yes it is, seems there is some problem with the power state detection and changing of the load mode. Might by a physical problem, so I am not sure you can fix it.
At least check your power plan details and see if there is any error with the ACPI devices in the device manager.
In general, if you use the laptop when plugged, you should take out the battery to maximize the battery life (prevents useless load cycles).
Also configure Windows to optimize battery usage.

It will not turn on even though it's plugged in

Well, if your computer does not even turn on, or run through the POST test, then you may have a power fault somewhere inside you computer. There really isn't a reset for it. If its the V6500 (laptop), then try removing the battery, if the computer allows, and starting the computer with AC. If it works, then you know its your battery. If not, then you have bigger problems (as stated earlier). Here is a site with some steps to follow to help determine your specific problem, if it is a battery/AC adapter issue.

Computer won't turn on though plugged into wall

Make sure you have power at the outlet. Take power cord off and remove battery. Hold power button down for 10 seconds, plug just power cord. Try to turn on. If dose not work , you have a hardware issue.

Powering off

Actually, if it is beeping as though the battery is low even while it is plugged in, it is because the battery is no longer any good and is sucking all the power from the wall. You need to purchase a new battery. Until you get a new battery, you can simply remove the battery and use the laptop plugged in. That will stop it from turning off. Been there - done that. Hope that helps! ; )

Battery Depleted

Are you able to run the laptop with no battery installed but the power cable plugged in? If not, there's a good chance your power jack on your laptop has broken (or almost broken) and will need to be replaced or the power adapter isn't working.

If it does run, your battery is probably bad and can't take any charge. It will need to be replaced.

Canon ZR40 would not turn on

The battery is probably so dead it is using all the power from the wall supply.  Remove the battery, and run only from the wall supply.
