k81978, Do the flashlight test! Reconnect FP5315 to an already fully booted known good pc with Win-Desktop showing on subed display. push the 'ON" button of FP5315. Note what happens for the next 5 seconds of time. Did you see the desktop displayed for any period of time? After screen goes to 'BLACK' shine bright flashlight onto screen about 1-2 inches away, and at different angles. Look closely, even though screen appears black. Do you see or not see the desktop? Regardless of results of test here are your options that you have open to you as a consumer/user of lcd/fpd display.
1. Check warranty status. 2. Check with monitor manufacturer to see if they have a 'swap-out' program! You send them your's+$40 to $90 and they send you a REFURBISHED same model(new CCF tubes+Inverter+switch-mode-power-supply) in return. Option 3. Find local TV/Audio/monitor repair guy that knows forward and backwards all there is to know about cold cathode fluorescent lighting and the inverter circuits that power them, and switch-mode-power-supplys. Option 4. Check with the service dept. where you purchased monitor and question them as to what other options might be open to you. I'm louie12fix on fixya or lmistyrel@ aim.com Hope this helped a little bit. The technology you are dealing with is similar to the new energy-saving 'curlie-Q' light bulbs! Only diff is your tubes are straight and hung horizontally in back of the lcd panel. Bye for now.
