Your magnetron is not sending out its radiation. Magnetron may simply have wires fallen out. Make sure to completely shield everything again, and don't lose any parts. And especially don't work on it plugged in.

sorry, i mean put all the parts back. i.e. don't run the microwave without all the parts put back... its kind of a pain to check, magnetrons do go bad.... but they put our microwave radation, just like your cellphone and its a big nono to run them with a crack in the shielding (the metal cage of the microwave case)

While microwaving it suddenly stopped working. No more display. Oven was made in 1996. It had been working without a light for several years.

yes im sure it doesn't need an interior light to work, but I would say 4 sure the only way id spend money on a repair of any appliance made in 96 (20 years old) is if it was part of a set that matched everything in the area , even then id think ******* it

My GE JVM1540 microwave appears to run but it won't heat. The lights and turntable work but it does not heat at all.

you will have to replace the microwave, sounds like a burned out magnetron, replacing the magnetron is almost as expencive as a new oven...

Can my carosel microwave digital read out be fixed

Anything and everything can be fixed it just depends on how much money you want to spend. I would measure it up because microwaves do wear out and as they get older they dont heat up as well and sometimes the gaskets get to leaking radiation .I would say it isnt worth it but you can chek out the display by taking it off and see if a wire came off especially if you just moved it wiggle it while its on NOT COOKING ANYTHING! SEE IF IT COMES ON A LITTLE AND GO FROM THERE

Unit does not heat food. the light and rotating plate work but food is not heating.

It could be a faulty magnetron, which is responsible to warm up the food. If that is the case, then the cost price of that part is quite expensive and you are better off replacing the whole unit rather than spending money on buying the parts.Hope this helps.

Not heating anything up

if the light comes on and you here it buzzing but its still not heating up its likley to be the megertron burned out,, (thats the aerial for the microwave's to transmit off) its very expenive to replace,,,
bont try replacing it yourself, inside the microwave is very high voltage even if its been turned off for a long time,, 1000's of volts and they kill,,
have you ever seen a stun gun working??? this microwave has the stun guns very big brother inside it?? it dont stun,, it kills! play it safe drop it into a repair man to fix or better still buy a new one,,there so cheep now its realy not worth spending good money on an old microwave,, go out and treet yourself and play it safe!

Microwave oven does not warm food up

I have not solved my problem,I have decided to buy a new microwave rather than pay for this amount of money on a telephone advice when you have said on your site that it is free.I will also spend further amount of money, to call an electrician after your advice,so I will be better of buying a new one.

Microwave will not heat anything

To me it sounds like you have a bad thermistat there are 3 i think it was been awhile. You can bypass each one by joining the wires and then run with a cup of water for 2 min.Cheak if the water heats up.Be very carfull for a microwave can hold alot of voltage even after unpluged. If you can you can touch across with a insulted screw driver on the capaciter it is a silver. After cheaking the them and no go you may have a fualty door switch.Hope this helped:)

Re: microwave does not heat

Is very unlikely that there could be any other electrical failure since everything else seems to be working.
If you are able to fix it yourself then is way more cheaper just to buy the magnetron.
Click here to find the magnetron.
Before you do any work on this device, please click here to know how to discharge the high voltage capacitor and other safety concerns when working with devices that generate high voltages.
I would say is not worth it to spend more then $100.00 for a 5+ years old microwave.
Good Luck.

I don't hear the fan, the carousel doesn't spin, nothing works but touchpad & light

It sounds like you may have an intermittent door switch or loose door switch mount.

Does it work differently when you wiggle the door?

At our site, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and disassembly information.
