Question about RCA P52926 52" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

My rca model #52w20 will not come on

The last time that the tv was on I turned it off by turning of the surge protector. when I tried to turn it back on a week later, the on button at the front of the tv made the clicking sound for the on position, yet the set did not come on. I tested the receptical which is connected to the surge protecter- it works fine, there is power to the tv but it will not come on. everything that is pluged in to the surge protector works fine.

SOURCE: TV wont turn on, makes buzzing noise and shuts off

I have two RCA HD52W59 TV's. I have had one for 3 years and one 4 years. The one I have had for 4 years is giving me the problem. Last week the tv turned off while watching it. It wouldnt come right back on. 10 minutes later we tried and it worked fine. the other night the kids were watching and it turned off and smelled like something burning. I tried turning it right back on and got no power at all. I tried to turn it on two days later and it made a buzzing noise and the green light went out. Never did get a picture, no powering up on the screen. Any ideas? Don't want to spend alot of money. Really loved the TV hope it isnt junk now. Better yet I hope the same thing doesnt happen to the other one I have.

If this is similar to the d52w20 then I almost garantee you need to replace a capacitor. You can check to make sure that's what you need by unplugging the tv, taking off the back cover and feeling the top of 3 capacitors. On my d52w20, CP150 (rated at 2200uf 16V) was blown and the top was bulged out. You should also check CP120 and CP114 to see if either are blown. I don't have a clear picture of where it's located, but I have a picture of what you should see after you take off the back cover.

In the middle of the picture you see an aluminum heatsink in the shape of a 'C' with the opening facing away from you. That is where CP150 is located. CP120 and CP114 should be located nearby, but if you can feel a bulge on any of the tops of those 3 capacitors replacing them should fix your problem. Replace the existing capacitors with a higher voltage rating of either 25v or 35v.

"4 capacitors on the power/deflection board. CP110 220uf 200v. CP120 220uf 35 Volts. CP114 220uf 35 volts. CP150 2200 16 volt. also check entire delfection board for cold solder especially around flyback. bad connections here can cause problems like some of the fp fuses blowing and cutting off convergence supply"

SOURCE: television will not powwer on

Hello al1895,

This model of TV uses the ITC222A chassis. This is a common problem in this unit. The problem is usually centered around 4 capacitors (CP140, CP150, CP110, and CP114) They usually vent (becom bloated or puffy) and develop an internal short which causes the TV to shut down. This is usually caused by power surges (even when connected to a surge protector). The repair for this problem does not cost much, and I would suggest that you have a TV repair technician examine this TV due to the other problems that can happen with this chassis (ITC222A).

I hope this helps,

Thank you,

Had power surge. Tv was on surge protector. Now no power will come on and just makes a buzzing sound.

Have you tried plugging it in without the surge protector? I would wager that either a) the surge protector needs to be reset/turned on and off depending on the model or b) either your TV and/or surge protector have been damaged by the power surge.

Try plugging the TV straight into the outlet and see if that helps.

I turned off my seike tv model number se321fb and now it wont turn back on? the surge protector has power how do i get it to come back on?

Even though the indicator light on your surge protector is on, the surge protector outlets may not be working. Test it by plugging in a different electronic to make sure it still works.

It could also be a problem with your remote, such as dead batteries or that the remote is no longer programmed with the correct codes.

Here are a couple of troubleshooting checklists that can help you identify the problem and what you can do to solve it:

Remote not working
No picture on TV

I hope this helps!

52 inch rca 52w20 powers up with three high pitched noises then nothing

sounds like the flyback which is the number one component that fails on that model. You need flyback 259296 and you can get a replacement flyback at the following with step by step instructions on how to replace it. heres the link.

Does the set make any sounds. DOes the front green led light or flash when you try to turn it on.. if not then it could be as simple as a fuse, if it does flash then it can be many problems
