My Samsung laptop was working fine this morning untill it cut off on me because its got a faulty battery and needs replacing so I have to keep the charger at a certin place

You have to get a replacement battery, it's dangerous to run just off the cord as I am sure it gets very hot. Depending on how old the computer is you may just want to upgrade for a new one because a brand bane battery can cost over 100 by itself. You can order them online, but they don't last as long either. Once the battery is dead, that's it. Just back up what you need first thing. Then decide if you want to replace the battery with a brand name, knock off, or get a new laptop. I usually use it as an excuse to get a new laptop, but it's not necessary.

My sony vaio VGN-AW41ZF keeps turning off by itself. It doesnt shut down, just cuts off as if there is no power but the battery is fully charged and plugged in. Could this be an overheating problem?

I have a Sony VAIO GRS170/GRS175 in use almost every day since 2003. It used to turn off regularly during hot summer days even with its battery fully charged and plugged in. The problem was eliminated by using a small fan to blow air at its side where the air intake was located. Later, the fan was replaced with a notebook cooling pad which was more convenient. You could first try using a fan to see if it makes any difference. If you don't get anymore shut downs, then the problem is definitely due to overheating. You could then replace the fan with a notebook cooling pad.

It smells like an electrical fire in the charge port!! The cord is plugged in.. and the light shows that it's charging.. but it's not.. and will not turn on.. cuz the batterry is dead!!!! I don't know if...

This could be the smell of dust getting hot and smelling. I would shut this down and clean it out also get a cooling underneath cooling fan for it as well. This is what dust can do over time it does smell like a short so have this looked at and do not keep using it until the machine is cleaned the cooling fan is checked out as well as the undercarriage cooling fan would be most helpful as well. Overheats and freezes

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air.
Give the computer a "blow-job", because dust inside the computer is working as a layer of insulation, i.e., not allowing your computer's fans to cool itself.

My notebook turns on and off off itself

Your Laptop Has Probably Been Overheating. Every 2-8min Feel The Bottom Of The Laptop. If It Is Hot, Close The Screen And Put It In Standby/Hibernate For Atleast 5min

The laptop will not start up

This sounds like a bad battery. If the battery has a short within it, it will cause the power system to shut down. Replace the battery and see if that works.

Laptop (Toshiba Satelite A60) keeps turning off

Is it turning off by itself after being on for 20min... each time? I.e. is it consistently turning itself off after the same amount of run time? Check the bottom of the laptop... how hot is it? Might be an over-heating problem. Some freeware (MobileMeter) might help you monitor temperatures and see if it is a problem

Some excellent heat management information here:
