Disable dell startup splash screen to see RAID console

most likely, RAID is disabled. Restart the computer, tap F2 as soon as the computer starts until it takes you to the BIOS screen. Look on the Drives section and verify if your SATA or SATA OPERATIONS are set to RAID ON. Save the changes.

Afterwards, restart the computer and see if it works. Note, when it displays the Dell Splash screen, you may try to hit CTRL + i or CTRL + N to enter the RAID BIOS.

If none works, you can also visit http://support.dell.com and go to the Drivers and Downloads page. Enter your Service Tag or select your system model. Then check for an available update that you can download and install for the BIOS and Chipset of your computer.

Tip

Windows XP setup disk says disk not found.

That happens because the BIOS uses a SATA controller that is not included in Windows XP install disk.

Usually you can solve the problem going to BIOS settings and changing SATA/RAID settings.Check your BIOS settings, and disable SATA RAID mode. This is done in different ways depending on the BIOS.

On HP/Compaq computers for example you press F2 on startup to enter BIOS, then disable SATA mode on bios settings.
On other makes the procedure can be slightly different.

Another way to fix the problem, is by creating your own XP setup disk with SATA drivers included, see:
Resolving "Setup did not find any hard disk drives" during Windows .

I cannot get the 2 x 4500Gb SATA drives to show up in the BIOS of a intel s875wp1 board. It is an older board and had the RAID setup in place - I just want the 2 x SATA drives as normal so turned off the...

ATA/IDE has nothing to do with SATA. Ignore.
Try plugging in the drives into the non RAID sata ports on the motherboard. I think when you disable raid you also disable the raid ports. You should have another set of sata ports on the motherboard, probably a different colour.

Need to boot from SATA drive

If you only have one SATA drive, you do not need to have the RAID setting turned on in CMOS. RAID is only for 2 or more SATA or SCSI drives. Shut that off and try again.

I am aware your motherboard has just two sets of sata pins ( only two hard drives can be used )
Have you flashed your bios to latest one ?
Sure your cables for sata are not damaged ?
Are you sure the sata drives are in working order ?

Sata raid config

first check your bios & see what raid chips are enabled, usually there's 2. Your main raid is on the first 4 sata connectors, the other chipset probably controlls the remaining sata ports. So if there's an option to disable one raid chip, disable one, just not the one that you're using. I don't know what your bios screen looks like,so this is just a general view based on my experences with various boards, mainly asus.

I cant install my hdd sata

Under many cases, the default settings for additional onboard SATA/RAID controller could have been set to [Disabled] when delivered. This will cause the controller to stop its function completely. Suggestion: Please refer to your user’s manual for detailed description on how to enable onboard SATA/RAID controller via adjusting jumper or BIOS settings. Clean SATA cable with a couple cotton sticks lightly dipped into alcohol. If you sitll can not see the SATA drive from within the bios your onboard SATA/RAID controller is defective. Contact Asus tech M-F eastern time at: 812-282-2787. Tech will assign you a case number. Tech will than connect you to the RMA department for replacment/repair.
