Question about Dell Studio 17 Laptop

1 Answer

I have a Dell Studio 1 month old. Turned it on today and an error pops up saying it is shutting down to prevent harm. I tried to restore to factory settings, then a message came up that if you have recently attached a device to this compuer such as a camera or a portable your administrator or manufacturer if you keep having this message. I have not hooked up any devices to it?

Do you have Windows XP ?
Did you try SAFE Mode ?

If you can get into SAFE Mode, than do a disk check !

Lost all settings, programs, seems like computer is reset

the original settings? you mean all your programs are factory default? if that's the case it sounds like you did a factory reset instead of a restore point. you can't do that unless you're in the recovery screen. please advise

How do i factory reset my dell studio 1537? its asking for user 2 and password.....what is this??

turn off completely, power it on and as soon as the dell logo appears hold down the control(Ctrl) key and simultaneously hit the F11 key(repeatedly). The factory reset screen should come up. You will loose all data plus any programs that were added. If this does not work try the instructions on the link below. Just copy and paste.

I have a Dell Inspiron 1545 notebook. I just bought it less than a month ago. When I power down it will not start up. It goes to the dell logo page and freezes. Why??????

At less than 1 month old, this is a potential warranty call. Installing questionably safe software could have caused this problem too.
If you haven't had it long enough to accumulate a great amount of valuable data on the hard drive, you could simply try to do a factory restore with the restore disks that shipped with the computer or by holding down a key at start-up to launch a built in restore program. (the key options should be displayed on your screen during start-up)

I have a 4 month old Dell Studio 1535 laptop, with audio problems

Firstly check that the microphone level is down or turned off as this sounds like some sort of feedback that's being produced.

Check the microphone and try to play music again.

Please post back

Good luck.

Trying to restore Dell Inspiron 1501 to factory settings.

don't hit ctrl, f11 instead hit F8 and then go into Dell Factory Image Restore, that will wipe, format and reinstall all the factory software that's stored on the Recovery Drive (usually the D: drive) good luck.
