Re: Battery

The below was copyed from an earlier post of mine, it applies to you. It's one of two things, the more likely of the two is that that battery is totaly shot, laptop battery's are usually only good for 1.5 years then loose there ability to retain a charge. It sounds like that one's just done. Unfortunatly that those batterys cost more than there worth, 100 bucks or more. The second possibility is the power cord, is that the original power cord for that? Or was on that was bought aftermaket, some aftermarket chargers will only power your laptop and not charge. Also remove the battery and check for corrison. You can build your own battery fot a a laptop if got a few hours time, and are good with a soldering gun. You get the litium ion cells you need for about 40 bucks. Good Luck Follow the below link for a step by step on how to build your own battery

What does the internal 601 Battery do, and how to replace it

Do you use your power off the mains at all (not plugged in) It will be the main battery for the laptop.

If you always leave your laptop plugged in there isn't much point in getting a new battery. Perhaps you can turn off the error message on startup?

Hi, I bought Acer4741Z from India on September, when i charge the laptop, it shows 52% charging and it wont go till 100 %. Any solution for this............pls help..............

When you first bought the laptop did you fully charge the battery for at least 20-24 hours before use? To ensure the lifespan of your laptop battery is long you will need to follow these easy steps:

1) Charge the battery at least 20 hours before use.
2) Completely drain battery power before you charge it again.
3) Try not to have the laptop battery plugged in if you re going to use AC directly from the wall socket.

You may need to purchase a new battery as this one's lifespan seems to have been reduced as it can only hold 52% charge. When you purchase another follow the above steps.

My battery on my JVC Mobile Mini Note PC/MP-XV841 has not been charging when I plug into an electrical outlet.

How long have you had the battery?
The average life of a battery if charged everytime the laptop is used can be as low as 12 months.
Try a replacement battery if this one is exhausted.

My battery always stays charged, so why is my laptop telling me that i need to replace my battery?

Hi,the reason why your laptop is telling you to replace Battery is,you have killed your battery without knowing by Charging it always, since you have constant power supply, you should at least after getting a new Battery, discharge it four to five times a week longer life of battery,by these i mean, unplug cord from mains let power drain to 5% or 10% before charging again while working and if fully charged and you are not making use of it disconnect and if you want to make use of it use battery instead do not connect immediately to mains until power drains from battery.Just like your mobile phone, you only charge it when need be(ie. when Battery is Low).

Lose all battery power within minutes when not plugged in

Laptop batteries typically need to be replaced every couple of years or so.

Much like cellphones, if you overcharge them then you can ultimately kill cells and keep if from holding any juice.

Good way to keep this from happening in the future is by simply monitoring the amount of charge your battery has while its docked at an outlet.
IF it has a full charge simply take it out and use it on ac power and reserve the battery life for when you need to be mobile.

A new battery can be found either on ebay or directly through the manufacturer. Steer clear from off-brand replacements as I have typically seen a high failure rate.

Hope this helps.

When should you change out your laptop battery?

Laptop batteries life will vary depending on use. In my experience it is suggested to replace the battery within 3 years. This depends on your requiring the battery.

If you wish to work mobile then a new battery makes your investment a tool, and should be considered.

New battery needed!

The Everex SA2052T uses the same battery as a Averatec 2260 (2200 series) laptop. I purchase one from this week. The battery is made by BTI and the model number is AV2200. It works perfectly.
