Thank you byteguy, you were kind and very helpful, the world needs more people like you! I have a manual, but more information was needed to help me not blow up the motherboard, my system was totally rebuilt from the ground up and I didn't want it destroyed.

    Thank You!

Assuming you have the cable it is simply a matter of plugging in the cable to your front USB connector and to your motherboard. What is your question exactly?

There are probably cables coming from the front of the computer. On the motherboard, you will see 2 or more groups of pins where these cables go. Unfortunately, sometimes the cables don't have a single plug, but have one plug that has 3 holes and then 1 that has one. Many times, too, there are 2 sets. So--let's see if this helps:
The pins will be labled something like USB and then several numbers.
The pins look like this ::::. (hope that shows up OK)
If your usb cable end has one large (3-hole) plug and one small, the large one goes over the first 3 pins from left to right. The one on the left is labeled VCC. The separate plug goes on the 4th pin.
You can use the top row of pins or the bottom. Nothing goes on pin #5 on the bottom.
Does this help? If so, rate it accordingly, please.

E-Machine Mother Board Connections

Find the company, and name of the board, and look that up. Computer manufacturers could use any number of different boards. You need the specific manual to that board. The manual should explain where the connections go. Sounds like you have the LED HD and POWER ON LED disconnected.

Mercury Mainboard PVCLE266M-L v3 Manual

Go to Mercury's website, and under 'download drivers' is all the information you need. The drivers for the various devices are there, and a downloadable copy of the manual.
http://www.mercury-pc.com/product-detail.php?link=p-mainboards&subtitle=Mainboard&productid=439
The USB cable to the fron panel and the mother board look similar. The cable and board will have 1 pin missing at the end of the connector, and that is the orientation to connect it.
You need the network drivers to activate the network connection (also at mercury's website)

Usb 2.0

Hi,
this is a common error with operating systems and devices.
If you go into my Computer/system/device manager. And remove the installed USB devices. shutdown the computer, and reboot it. then try putting your USB device in.
What general happens, is that if you have had an older device in the USB port at any time, the port configures itself to this setting. options are to try another port on the computer ( some older ports only support usb1.1 )
ensure you have up to date drivers on the connecting device and on the connecting computer.
Hope this helps Mike @ Compurepair.

Front panel connector

First of all remove the front panel connectors before powering up, cause U do not want to put any wires to the USB headers. In doing so u might damage u'r board Second get your hands on the mother board manual,, if the front header has no label printing indicating the connection details. If no manual. then get on line and do a google search you'll find plenty of info's on how to DIY. Happy hunting Rifaa
