Glad to know you can use DOS. Ok, you need to run these three commands in DOS (Recovery console, in XP verbose):
1) fixmbr, this will repair the boot sector on your HD
2) fixboot, this will repair your Windows boot, and
3) CHKDSK /F (the F parameter stands for "fix").
The system should now be able to start normally, or at least in SAFE MODE.

Basilio, thanks for the reply....
I ran the fixmbr, fixboot and chkdsk /R (not /f) it created a new boot sector, checked for bad sectors, and says it repaired, however still same problem, blinking cursor, even in safe mode, not able to start...safe mode is (F8) right...any other suggestions?
i'm ready to go to the roof and drop it, if anyone can get here in 15 minutes and catch it, you can land urself a 17" dell laptop...
and yes i am familiar with DOS, back when Win 3.0 and 3.1 :) were the bomb :)
