Question about Philips Magnavox 27MS343S 27" TV
Hi i have a 27 inch maganavox tube tv and it keeps shutting off and sometimes very hard to come on. Sometimes when it comes on it makes a whinning high pitched noise and stays on for about and hour or so. It has nothing to do with the timer, it just cuts off. It starts off by the picture on the tv starts to pull and stretch away from the corners of the tv and then i hear this click noise and it shuts off. what is the problem?
You have a problem is in your horizontal section which also is part of your power supply. The high pitched whine is from the Intergrated High voltage transformer (also called the flyback transformer). This sound occurs when the freuency of the transformer changes and or the voltage gets too high. The click occurs as a result of the drawing of excessive current by the HOT Horizontal output transistor. This is repairable, but requires the correct equipment and a schematic.
