Sometimes instructions are on the new belt package. You can google your unit for support. Check Repairclinic.com. Keep in mind the belt must go at least a half turn around the motor pulley( grooves down on the pulley), then the tensioner is pulled toward the motor and the belt goes a half turn around that pulley, with the grooves up. That should take up all the slack.

I changed the belt, it sounds like it works now but drum does not roll????

Hi and welcome to FixYa. I am Kelly.

Things to check..

1. Belt and ilder pulley properly positioned?
Use this link to make sure you have it correct:
http://www.repairclinic.com/Dryer-Belt-Diagrams

2. Make sure the drum felt seals are not rolled / folded over. If it is folded / rolled slide the shanke of a screwdriver under the felt and rotate the drum 360 deg until it straightens out. (Front and rear seals.)

3. Make sure the drum rollers are resting in the drum groove and not behind the drum

These manuals will be a big help: (page 25)

Order a slightly shorter belt or put another idler pulley in somewhere (assuming the machine is in a condition to make one).

How do i install a belt on a whirlpool LHE5700 dryer

This instruction works for most any dryer--- it should for yours too:
1) The big trick for a dryer belt is getting it around the drum... the rest is easy. You'll either take the top off and work with the drum to ease the belt around the drum- the front of the drum simply rests on slides/rollers depending on the model
You may need to remove some piece from the front to make this happen too-
2) re-fit the belt then by first taking the inspection cover off (or the whole back of the unit) and working the belt to the back of the drum, near to the pulley and the motor...
3) then, work to unload the spring, place the belt around the pulleys (it should be pretty obvious how to do this) and then release the spring mechanism--- this will tighten the belt between the drum and the drive pulleys.
Good luck!!!

Can't get belt on dryer properly

The routing for the belt should be on a diagram somewhere inside the dryer. It sounds like the belt is not properly routed around the idler/tensioner pulley -- this is a very tricky routing -- without a diagram, it's a bunch of trial and error. Can you find the routing diagram?
