Re: Brother ink monitor not working

There could be a posibility that you may be low on ink. The reason i say this is that you say it prints green. Green is blue and yellow. That means that your red is empty or dried out. If you are low on ink you will have a low or no ink indication and sometimes the software for the printer only has 3-5 diffrent indications. What i mean is when you see the data for your ink there are diffrent levels that it shows. Your software may not be able to diffrenciate between the colors just the status of say one color in your case it could be red. Therefore it would read 0% of ink avaliable but still be able print green. If i were you I would buy a new ink cartridge and see if you get the same results.

My printer is not HP it is Brother MFC-260C

The printer uses several ways to show ink levels. When you replace the cartridge it askes if it has been replaced, Say yes and it sets the ink level monitor to full. As the cartridge empties it them checks through an electronic eye system through the cartridge. When it cannot see any ink it says it is empty.
Replace the cartridges and it should fix the problem.

How can I disable the printer ink status monitor?

If you're speaking of the docked Printer monitor icon in the quick launch, you can open the task manager and force close the Brother Printer Monitor. All that does is monitor the current status of the device at all times and isn't needed on the task bar.

Indicates black ink empty when its not.

Try removing the cartridge and shaking it. Brother printers use an optical ink monitor with a float inside the cartridge. The float can get stuck sometimes and indicate incorrect ink level.
But keep in mind that printers often indicate 'empty' (on purpose) while there is still bit of ink left in the cartridge, to prevent running out of ink during printing. If shaking doesn't help, replace the cartridge.

How to deactivate the ink monitoring system in a brother 250MFC

As far as I am aware this is not possible. Brother inkjet printer make physical check on the cartridges to determine ink levels and there is no way to stop this from the Brother software. Sadly I am not aware of any third party utilities than can do it either.

Your MFC has reached its limit of cleanings. The ink absorder box is full and needs to be replaced. Check the brother website for an authorized service center in your area.

My status monitor says that all my colour supply levels are full. But the printer won't print in colour. Only black & white. Even when I choose the "print in colour" option. This hasn't happened...

Brother Inkjet printers' printheads are very sensitive, using non-genuine ink clots the printhead. Try to clean the head by pressing the ink maintenance button. Sometimes you need to clean several times.

How to check ink level on brother MFC-9440CN?

Run the Brother Control Center. Click Device settings. Click where it says Inklevel.

A simpler way is Start-->All Programs-->Brother--> ...-->Status Monitor.
An icon will lodge itself on the tray (a printer). When icon is clicked on, the inklevels will show.

Hope it helps.
