YouTube or any Video/music clip plays very slow or sometimes hang

We have just bought our daughter Asus EEE 1000H with Windows XP. She was very excited until she'd tried to listen and watch YouTube clips while launching or switching other programs. From time to time, music hangs or plays very slow and that's really frustrating. I tried changing the browser's priority, changed the Hybrid Engine to any setting - but nothing had improved so far. Right before trying to install Linux - is there a way to improve things?
we have a 1.5 download ADSL connection + 54Mbp Wifi lan. As stated in my original message - if no other program is started/switched, music and video are just smooth. When another program starts music becomes choppy. This issue also occurs during boot: the "Welcome" music is also interrupted or cut. Thanks

You need to install a webcam related software like Skype or Cheese. You can find it on the ubuntu software center or install it directly from a terminal:
using hidden partition
hold F9 during bootup (requires recovery partition)if you have installed windows XP to your
Eee PC , the hidden partition would be cleared and cannot be used for system recovery.
