The engine cuts out after it heats up

After about ten minustes of use the engine begins to choke out. I have to throttle up and down to keep it running. I can never use full throttle after that because the engine cuts off.

Mine is acting the same way. It does re-start with one pull and will run fine for a minute and then the RPM's will drop and it will die. It also looks like there is gas in the oil. I'm still 1 month within the warranty if I can only find the receipt!

It seems to run fine for a while then I have to relaease the throttle to keep it from stalling out. Has anyone figured out what is going on. I have used hi test thinking it will clean anything that is gunked up. My tiller only fget used a few times a year any suggestions?

Same issue-- Mine is about 3 yrs old and gets a good workout in the spring with flower beds and a small garden; I've not had a problem with it until last week. It started this season out perfectly, then after several days of use will only run well cold. After 5-10 minutes of use, I have to constantly work the throttle to keep it running. I have already cleaned the carburetor, air and fuel filters next I'm going to replace the spark plug.

This seems to be a common issue as of late, i'd tighten up your idle adjustment so you can run at full throttle with no issue. The tiller's oil should be at the lower lip of the dip stick's access threading while the unit is laying face down (gas tank down). Clean up your carb as well and change your plug/filter, if this doesn't work than you're probably looking at some simple carb adjustments, but the fact it dies after 10 minutes of use makes me think it's running either dirty or too rich.

Check the fuel cap. There is a valve that lets air into the tank as fuel is sucked out. Mine was gummed up. Clean it out and it now works fine.

Easy to test - run the tiller without the fuel cap. Obviously be careful about getting dirt in the tank or explosive fumes. If it works fine with the fuel cap off, clean or replace.

Why does troybilt generator engine keeps shutting off when throttle is moved from choke to run position?

Give it a shot of starting fluid. If it runs initially, then most likely the jets on the carbureator are clogged. You should remove the carb and clean/rebuild it.

Why does my lawn mower start and immediately cut off? Installed new plug and filter.

How long has petrol been in mower for. Could have fuel that has gone bad in it. Also when you start mower you usually need to start with the choke activated until the engine gets warm and then take off the choke. Also check the throttle linkage as some mowers have a device that kills the engine when the throttle is pulled down to stop and it is usually on the mower engine and gets activated when you pull the throttle cable to the stop setting. Had one where this was bent. Another thing I have had is a pin that is in the drive shaft that had broken thus causing the mower shaft not to turn with the engine.

3cyl 993cc daihatsu engine starts and runs then shuts down could this have something to do with the fuel cut solonoid

If you can keep it running with the choke set, your engine is starving for fuel, your fuel filter, or carb is clogged. disconnect the fuel line to the carb and check for flow. Fuel cut would do just that, cut ALL fuel so choking would not matter.

Chokes and Dies when cutting

Adjust the choke or carburetor. In case your chainsaw stalls when the engine is idling, ensure that the choke is set properly. To do so, first try releasing it to adjust it, and then move the plate and tighten all screws once again. To loosen any grit, spray carburetor cleaner spray on the choke's shaft. The carburetor may also need to be adjusted; consult your owner's manual which will guide you on resetting the idle mix screw.

Will only start and run with choke on. have to keep choke on even after thoughly warm and exaust pipe begins to turn red hot. engine wants to die

The pilot jet circuit is plugged up. Clean the carb. Remove the vacuum valve and keep it away from any spray. Remove the choke, air and throttle screws then spray into every hole you can find. The spray should go in one hole and come out another hole. Pay special attention to the jets. Important > count the number of turns inward to lightly seat the throttle and air screws. This is the number of turns you will need to open the screws after lightly seating them during re-assembly. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

Will only run if choke is on i cleaned carb.i think it may b the primer bulb.iv tryed changing the lines didnt help

Check the fuel filter in the fuel tank for plugging. The primer bulb only affects starting. Make sure the muffler is not plugged. If these things look good, try turning the 'H' needle on the carburetor CCW about 1 turn. If this allows the engine to run without the choke, allow the engine to warm up. Then, open the throttle full on and turn the H needle back CW until the engine begins to speed-up, but is still 4-stroking. Correct adjustment is when the engine will smooth out as soon as it starts cutting, but 4-strokes when not cutting. Hope this helps!

Can I clean my Maf sensor and throttle body myself on a 2000 pontiac grand prix GTP? What are the steps? Is it necessary on 94,000 miles.

Yes it will help car run better. Take off any hose that goes to card so that you can see down throttle bore. Start car. Grab throttle linkage and figure out how to move it so that you can make the engine go faster. Begine to spray inside throttle body using little red hose that came with carb cleaner. While you are spraying the engine will try to cut out move the throttle linkage to speed up the engine so it won't cut out. Keep spraying all around inside and outside throttle bore.
