Question about Mitsubishi WD-52525 52" Rear Projection HDTV

Mitsubishi 52725 52525 Red Light turns on

When I power up my 52725 everything appears normal. The fans start and the bulb turns on. The sound comes on then the picture comes on. After a few seconds the set shuts off and the red light is on constant. Prior to this situation the set would not come on. We would unplug and try it again. Most often it would start up and be OK. As a point of reference I swapped out the bulb, no change. I swapped out the power supply board, no change. I swapped out the entire main chassis, no change. I would have swapped out the lamp ballast but I don't have one. Is it possible my problem might be the ballast? Any other suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks for any help.

    I have a complete light engine still in the box. What does the thermal sensor look like and is it removable from the unit?

    Thanks for the suggestion. I appreciate your help. I found the sensor. Removed it from the new light engine and installed it. I have the same result. The set powers on, sound comes on, the screen stays on for only a few seconds then goes off. The "lamp" indicator lights solid red.

    I was able to read the blinking light code. It appears to be 3 4
    I checked my service manual and I believe it is "lamp abnormality". It is real puzzling to me. I'm more determined than ever to find a fix for our set. There is a big void in our family room where the TV used to be.

The problem might be the thermal sensor on the light engine. with all the work you have done on this i would suggest taking a look at the thermal sensor. these are known to go out.

    The thermal sensor is on the back of the light box. it is a white rectangle part. If you remove the small screw and pull it up it will come right out. very easy to change.

    when that happens press and hold the menu and device buttons at the same time. the lights will start blinking. what is the blink code?

    it will blink like 2 times and then 3 times and that will be the code.

    the other thing that it would be on an error 34 would be the light engine itself. if you have one change it out. you might be missing what mitsubishi calls the lamp enable signal. the lamp will turn on and then shut off.

I have an optima hd180 that will not power up. The projector was indicating a bad bulb, so I replaced that with a new one. Now it still will not power up and the fan does not come on either.

Problem w/ OEM bulb, it causes a lot of issues from my experience. Your ballast might have gone bad, hopefully it's just that. Check the voltage output of the ballast, make sure you're getting the proper amount.

Try cleaning the little fans that keep the bulb cool, the temp sensor will shut it off so not to damage the bulb , the winning sound may be the fan going bad or not working like it should.

The red light was on solid, and the manual said to replace the lamp. I bought a new lamp and put it in, but still no picture. The fan comes on, it tries to power up and then in about 20 seconds the red...

these TV's have lots of problems. Don't waste your money on repair. But towards new one or you will be constantly replacing parts.
But anyway sounds like a power supply or light eng problem. If all measurements are good then the chassis needs to be sent to Mitsu for repair (approximately 140 updates to it).

Replaced bulb in Mitsubishi WD-52525 and it still does not work

Press the input/device button and the menu button at the same time. Green LED will blink a two digit code blink 1st digit short pause blink 2nd digit longer pause and repeat. Any number of problems can cause this same symptom.

If the red LED your refering to is the Status LED and not the Lamp LED then you have big problems. A red Status LED indicates no communication from the Format board to the DMD board (light engine). 1/2 the time caps on the format board itself the other 1/2 must send entire electronics package to Mitsubishi.

Tv Shuts off occasionally 1min upon power up shows red lamp light

Here's something that might also be useful. After you turn on the set, and get the regular red blinky lights, hold down the Device and Menu buttons together for about 5 seconds.
The Power light will start to flash in a two digit sequence.

For example, 3 flashes, then 7 flashes = 37.

Here are the error codes, and the corresponding problem:

12 = No error detected, check power supply.
32 = Lamp Cover is open.
33 = Air filter cover is open.
34 = Lamp abnormality
36 = Light Engine (DMD or Lamp Fan stopped)
37 = Exhaust or Lamp Ballast Fan stopped
38 = Lamp Temperature High
39 = DMD Temperature High
41 = Short is detected
44 = DVI cable between FMT and Engine disconnected
