Question about Dell A960 All-In-One InkJet Printer

Prints Blank Pages

My Dell A960 printer is about 2 years old, and this is the first time that it has done anything like this. I recently replaced the black ink cartridge, and printed an alignment page. Well, the printer stated that there was an alignment problem and to remove the tape on the cartridge. However, there was no tape left on the cartridge. I turned the printer off, and it began printing. It probably printed between 10-20 pages, and now it will no longer print anything. It acts like it is printing, but when the page comes out, there is nothing on it. I've tried to manually align the cartridges, but the printer will not completely print out the page so they can align. I've tried cleaning the cartridge. The printer is connected to the computer, and it has all the drivers, etc. Is there anything I haven't tried, or does anyone know what may be causing this? I really need my printer. Also, I've tried copying papers with the same outcome. It scans and acts like it is copying, but the copied page has nothing on it. Thanks!

    my printer will print a test page and print from the internet but it will not print from word 97 .... everything has been updated......and i can get some lines to print from word but not the whole document/// very weird..i even reinstalled word 97

    My printer prints the pages with the left edge of the paper missing the back ink. I have attempted to double check if any tape is on the the cartridge like it says.. and reprint the alignment page with the same problem.. missing black along the left boarder.

    All of a sudden, it prints nothing or it won't print or it won't print color and text page comes out without color. Mostly it doesn't automatically print- I have to press select or Black button several times.

    I've installed new cartridges; turned printer off and on; checked connections and printer preferences; asked a professional and it still doesn't work. Thanks

    As the guest had printer would say to re-align the ink cartridges but the ink with a full ink would not print properly on the left side. Does anyone know what to do about this??

    I have pretty much the identical problem to jmin33's. The only difference is my printer is over 3 years old.

    The printer says there is alignment problem and says to remove the tape. I tried to clean, realign the cartridges etc.

    It just prints blank pages and once or twice it managed to print a section of the test documnet but not full.

    Photocopying function does not work either. Again it just prints blanks.

    I have the same problem. I have replaced the cartridge several times and only get about four good pages per cartridge

    When I try to print or copy especially in color but it also happens with b&w, it might print part of the job then it stops & the display pad says Hardware Error 0502 and the computer has a message that says to turn the printer off & re-set the cartridges & re-do the print job. These are new cartidges and I have re-set them a hundred times. I have phoned several stores(best buy, future shop, dell, staples) to try to get it serviced but nobody does that. Any suggestions I can try?

    cut off and unplugged printer

    went through all of the solutions in dell troubleshooter

    printer in online and connected properly

    the only difference is I bought ink cartridge from office depot but it is suppose to be compatible with dell all in one printer a960.

    The printer fax copies normal but in copy mode prints the entire page in black ink

I was having these same exact problems then i looked at my old ink cartridge and saw that the blue tape was off and that i hadnt taken it off my new one i was trying to print with.!!!

Replace your cartridges with original dell cartridges.

The problem has been identified with Office Max refilled cartridges. The are poor quality and should not be used.

I had a the same problems.

The Fix - Below where the cartridge ride on (side to side). There is a strip touch it is probably tacky with ink residue, it prevents the cartridges from moving freely. This causes friction and slows the printer down causing the errors.

Wipe it clean with windex. And that will clear all the issues with this printer.

SOURCE: I just replaced my ink

Run a few "print-head-cleaning" cycles, to get the black ink flowing through the ink-jets inside the print-head.

Some printers REQUIRE an "alignment" step every time you change the ink-cartridges.
It only takes a few minutes, and it prints one or two pages of paper.

Hi, I have a Dell A960 that prints blank pages. I have tried removing the cartridges and cleaning them with vinegar on a paper towel until ink stains the paper towel, I have tried cleaning caked ink off of...

If not even the test page works then it's a hardware problem with the printing heads. In that case the there is only one thing left to try: put some new cartridges in and see if they work: if they don't then the fault is either in the connection between the cartridge carrier and the mainboard (with the thin flat cable on the side) or with the processor on the mainboard.
You will have to dismantle the printer completely and check the cable for damage and reseat it; then look at the mainboard for signs of damage - use this opportunity to do a full cleanup. If even after this the printer is still not working then the processor on the mainboard is defective - the printer is dead, time for a new one.

Left side of page prints lighter than rest of page

You should contact Dell about returning these for a replacement, it sounds to me like a manufacturer's error.

configure the proper port for the printer if you using usb cable for printer select the usb port in the properties of the printer ......

check the port you configure to printer

I just sprayed windex on bottom of cartridge several times and wiped with paper towel until dark streak of black appeared. Then I dried off cartridge and replaced. It works now. Must have been clogged.

most likely you got a bad cartridge,or it might be the lazer,but when you have a lazer problem you should get a error code
