I recently connected a Packard Bell 1020 monitor with mounted speakers to my Compaq 85000 tower. I had external speakers that worked prior to this, and I cannot get the packard bell mounted speakers to work :( Help please!

Since you get no sound when you connect headphones, I would think there is something more than the speaker change going on. So, yes I would try updating your audio driver next.

You need a driver for your Compaq's audio card. You can input the exact model number at the site linked below to retrieve the one you need.

You need to reinstall the device using the latest driver, or from within Device Manager you can select your devices properties and update the driver to the one you just downloaded.

My tower is working but I cannot get a picture on the monitor

In this case, make sure that the monitor is connected properly to the tower and there is no loose connection. Also, cross-check the buttons on the monitor to make sure that the monitor is turned on. If you still face the issue, try connecting your monitor to a different power outlet (if feasible) and see if that works.

If the issue still persists, you may consider using another working monitor temporarily (if feasible) to check if there is any issue with your current monitor. If the issue is still not resolved, you are advised to contact a local technician or technical support team of your OEM for further assistance.

How do i improve the sound on my packard bell kav60

If increasing the volume levels does not work then connect an externally powered speakers to the headphone socket on your laptop. These speakers will give better sound quality than laptop speakers.

How do I connect the speakers to a packard bell computer

You need a Packard Bell motherboard for this. look on the side of the monitor in the slot, and you should see 2 dark patches (holes). poke the hooks of the speakers inside these holes then pull down. if they are correctly placed, they will not come out if you pull the speakers away from the monitor. Hope this helps! Max

I have a HP tower and compaq monitor, does this affect the speakers on the monitor? Since I changed the towers out the sound hasn't worked

HP and Compaq are actually now one company. So depending on the age of your tower and the age of the monitor they should be compatible.

First you should check the small speaker icon located in the task bar in the lower right hand corner of your screen. Is there a red circle with a line through it?
First check your connections to the speakers. There are a couple ways to get the audio signal to the speakers so make sure you have a connection that can carry the signal. The primary one is through the Green Audio Out jack on the back of the tower to the Green Audio In jack on the monitor. HDMI cable can also carry a audio signal.

Still no signal?
If not left click the icon and make sure the Mute Box is not checked.

Signal?
If not then right click on the icon. You will be given two choices from a small pop-up dialog box (Win XP and Vista OS), click on Adjust Audio Properties. Click the Advanced Button in the lower right side of the window that opens. Again a small window will open with Speaker Setup choices at the bottom. Go through the list and pick Monitor Mounted Speakers or if Stereo Monitor Stereo Speakers.

If there is a red mark through the icon follow all the steps above.
Remember to reboot your computer after every change.
Additional you may need to go to HP to update your monitor and sound drivers.

In the Adjust Audio Properties, at the top click on the Hardware tab. Now click the Properties button at the bottom. A window will open that should say "This Device Is Working Properly". If not then it's a driver issue. Click on the Driver tab of the same window and click Update Driver button. Sometimes this will work great sometimes not so great and you will need to manually install the drivers.
Let me now if you need any thing clarified or if you are still having trouble after trying the above.
Hope this helps.

Cant use old packard bell speakers

No . The reason that you cannot is that they are amplified type speakers and the amplifier section appears, based upon what you stated, to be in the old monitor.                      Sorry.

20 minutes ago my computer was fine, its a packard bell imedia 3051. i turned it off the usual and proper way and switched it off at the wall. i just switched it all back on and now it wont even turn on i...

I am giving you a step which you should try once and see if it makes any difference.

Method (Power cycle)

You need to unplug the power cord from the tower and also remove any other device connected to the computer (May be any additional cards or any wires as for Ethernet or speakers mouse, keyboard).

Nothing should be connected at all to the tower.

Now Press and hold the power button on the tower for 25 seconds (It wont show anything). This is a step to release any static charges developed, which may surely caused the kind of issue you are facing.

Now connect the Power, keyboard and mouse and check, it should certainly work now.

Hope this should help

Sammy

Speakers

Packard Bell (160248-01) Computer Speakers with a 12 volt power source worked OK,

Tried a 9 volt and it also worked.

This pair of speakers is grey with a barrel design. The mounting surface placed flat is approximately 10.25 inches by 3.75 inches. Each end has a rainbow design with a depth of 2.75 inches. By placing with the mounting surface flat on your desk gives you an out of the floor design. The front edge from the desk to the bottom edge is 1.5 from the surface to the top edge with a 3.75 inch. Suggesting you may mount them under your desk, on the side by your legs or stand them on each side of your screen.

I am told they come in white and black also I found them rather large for what I need but your decision is you should be happy before buying a pair.
