Don't want to go more than $100.00

I was looking at some ATI Radeon...but they are asking about Gen 2.0 or 1.0 and am unsure of what this means

  • ccwaylan54 Apr 22, 2009

Assume you're using the onboard video. What budget have you got?

  • Fritzelly May 11, 2010

Depends on many things - what do you use the pc for? Gaming, video editing....?

Any of the cards here are suitabl,e with almost all under $100 and are all PCI Express x 16
Your mobo is not suitable for the PCI X 2.0
Remember the amount of memory on the video card comes from your available ram - so you need to consider this when buying if you dont have much ram.

(suggestions for video card upgrade on Gateway DX4870-UB318)

I know a Asus 7770 2GB works great with this pc. For some reason I couldn't get a Nvdia GTX 650 Ti to work on this computer. I would plug it in I wouldn't get anything on my television or audio. I recomend you purchasing the Asus 7770 2GB because I have it and I can play all my games on Ultra settings including Battle Field 3. Of course you would have to upgrade your power supply to at least 500 watts. Hope this helps, if anyone can solve my 650 Ti issue it would be a big help. Thanks guys I hope you have a great day!

Nvidia Gt550 http://www.geforce.com/hardware/desktop-gpus/geforce-gtx-550ti is fairly reasonably priced and has CUDA technology, DDR5 RAM, I think 2Gb ...it's a great card.

Can I upgrade the video card on a Gateway E4300 to work with Shader 3 graphics (Eve Online)? Or do I have to buy a new computer?

You only really need to upgrade the video card and the PSU (most video cards need more power than what most companies like dell and gateway provide.). So no need to buy a new computer.

Just go to best buy and find a video card that meets DirectX 9 Graphic specs that will fit you mother board.

1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Gateway 8510gz laptop, can I change the graphics card?

That depends on how you want to do it.

You cannot change the one in the notebook itself but there are alternative that are now available to connect to the USB ports.

If you are looking to upgrade for games then you are going to come unstuck as laptops do not make the best games machines.

Some of the newer notebooks can swap the display adapters but alas yours is not one of them.

Best video card upgrade for Gateway GT4024???? Stock computer....except ram upgrade to 2x1gb....want to increase the video handling from the slow onboard video

Your upgrade options for a better video card are really dependent on how much you want to spend.  You have a PCI express x16 slot which is what your are going to use.  Visit www.newegg.com and you can look up video cards by manufacturer, memory amount, and even filter it by how much you are willing to spend.  Here's a link at newegg for "the best video card upgrade":
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161203

Since there is a newer PCI 2.0 Express connection on newer computers, you can get your video cards cheaper now.  You will notice a huge improvement with any video card you choose since onboard video is about the worst.  Just remember to go into the device manager and disable onboard video card after you install the new video card.
    Good Luck

Game does not support your video card

Good morning! you have to upgrade / replace your VGA card to a higher memory capacity, if your VGA card is only 64MB then it cannot support the game you want to play, increase it to 128MB or 256MB. best regards
