Just signed up....was going to type in EXACTLY the same problem for EXACTLY the same vacuum. Go figure. Belts and suction fine...but high, loud noise and motor seems to get hot (so I turn it off).

This problem started after I let my daughter use it. Who knew she was vacuuming a small wood shop? Geeze. Any help appreciated.

If you have a rubber smell, then the belt is slipping, does the brush roll turn freely while holding the ends? If not then replace it, part #2036619, if it is ok, then the belt has strectched and is slipping under load, part # 2106679, Style 8.

SOURCE: Bissell Lift Off Broken Belt and Brush Roller

I live in Wa. state, so it would be alittle far for you to bring in. But take of the bottom plate,( brush roll #2032085, sells for around $18, belt is style 8, #2106679 for about $4) then you can get to the brush roll and belt. You just need to find somebody who sells vac. parts to buy them from.

SOURCE: Bissell Lift Off pet revolution vacuum losing suction

You may have a clog in the hose. Unhook the hose and see how the suction is there, if ok, then check the dirt inlet by the brush roll. If suction is low at the hose, then there is a clog in it.

its probably the motor. remove the covers with a #2 phillips head screwdriver and cut the wires to the motor ( unplugged ). purchase some crimps at radio shack to resplice the wires together in the same fashion.

SOURCE: Bissell upright vac, brush on bottom does not rotate

The front brush motor will not engage until the power is turned on and the handle is in the down position. In the upright position the brush motor wont engage. Typical faults will be the belt is broken and needs replacing or the fornt brush motor needs replacing.

Vacuum sounds like an airplane after 1 year of use.

the motor bearings are starting to fail most likely. You can diagnose the source of the noise by removing the brushroll and belt, could possibly be the brushroll bearings but if you still get the noise when the belt is off its the motor.

My mom phoned Bissell and talked to them personally. She was hoping to get a discount on a new vacuum or something. She didn't get anything and was very unhappy with them because the vacuum is only a year and 8 months old and the warranty was for only one year. She bought a new hepa filter for it, a new belt and had to order from Bissell themselves a new roller. She found out that she would only get $12 back for the roller (she paid $35) and now we have to buy a new vacuum or take it in to get serviced and pay $100 probably. So its not worth it. This vacuum was a rip-off. We have to buy a new one.

Main Brush Failure

first check if the brush motor is turning before you spend money on a new brush roller and belt. remove the belt by unscrewing the screws holding the brush cover ( the part touching the floor ) and slip the belt of the rotor. turn the vacuum on, and the brush on while the vacuum is in a reclined position. if the motor is not moving, you need a new motor.
