So I've just purchased a condo with a one-year old Malber Combination-Washer dryer, and to my dismay it doesn't reliably drain the detergent from the tray to the washer; so, for instance, it might complete an entire cycle and still have a tray full of detergent at the ends. Interestingly, the far left compartment in the detergent tray does appear to be drained on every occasion, but because this is (purportedly) the pre-soak tray, I've been reluctant to use it for a full wash. Also, the middle tray does occasionally drain, though I've yet to identify the conditions under which this happens.
The rod which controls the flow of water to the various compartments needs to be adjusted. It is not a difficult fix. You can contact Malber usa ([email protected]) and they can "walk" you through it. In the alternative, you can put the detergent in the pre-wash tray without concern.
Something to check; this is based on my Kenmore front-loading washing machine though:
In my washing machine, the cycle would stop before the rinse cycle and display a "1E" error code; I would turn it off & on, & it would complete the cycle, but usually the detergent tray was partially or completely full of unused liquid detergent when it finished.
In all the online help I was able to find, one suggestion was to clean the water inlet filters, which are little "buckets" made of plastic screen. They are located inside the inlet ports, where the supply lines screw onto the machine.
I pulled the filters out, and found the cold water filter partially plugged, but I also found a very fine filter screen BEHIND the ones mentioned, and the cold one was clogged almost solid.
These screens are apparently not made to be replaced, but I removed it with a slim jackknife blade, bending it only slightly. I cleaned it, flattened it, and reinserted it (I used the plastic filter bucket to push it back in), and lo-and-behold, both problems disappeared!
It turned out that the "1E" error code means an inadequate water supply due to low water pressure.
These screens are 7/8" diameter, and VERY fine (about 80 openings per inch). I was able to find 7/8" screens about 43 openings per inch at the hardware store, but figured there was a good reason the originals were so fine, so I re-used them.
Finer screens might be available at a store which sells pot paraphernalia, but I doubt it.
